My thoughts on Elite's future

I would like to speak on the point of player trading. To the point of possibly being annoying, I have been posting recently about trading goods with CMDR's. I honestly never looked at it from the perspective of buying someone an Anaconda for them. I'll have to think about that a bit further, because I DO NOT like that at all.

With the current system in place, my perspective is more along these lines:
Pilot chooses to participate in a hauling CG. Purchases goods for, say 10-30k. Flies a good distance to sell them at CG for, say 100-600k. Then needs to fly back. And back again. Say, why not break up the monotony? "That guy is trading Rare's. While I'm here I'll buzz on over, trade some of these for some some of those, fly right back down to the station and make an extra quarter million, refill on the ones I'd traded and be on my way again."

Maybe I'm off here, but that doesn't seem so harmful. In fact, in my mind it helps build community and gives the galaxy a little more color. But straight up gifting credits does in fact seem like it would be too easy to exploit and something I would not personally like. I'm with the anti-micro-transaction crowd. I don't like "pay to win". And like @DustyArne said, I would think it would be bad if someone were quitting the game and just gifted 650 million credits to someone else. But that is a personal ideal, YMMV.

Credit trading would be possible server side IF the credits were removed from one and put into another account via FDEV transaction server.

On the whole of it we could see players winging up with people and paying them for services, also more financial pirate factions where higher ranks get more cash.

More CMDR interaction can only be a good thing in my book. (Even though i'm currently 500 lys outside the bubble and counting, and therefore not likely to interact with anyone atm).

I genuinely love the idea of being able to hire other CMDRs (or even NPC's for that matter) as protection, escort, partner's in crime etc.

I sort of understand the gripe about donating massive amounts of Credits to CMDRs (sort of, mostly i figure, meh, buy your mate an Anaconda... It doesn't really bother me, and if you are trying to set up some sort of syndicate, that's exactly what you would do.)

But perhaps, some sort of "Set Up Job" function would be doable? So you can create a BB mission, with parameters and stipulations which must be completed before payment is made? Then you could invite trusted CMDRs to take the mission, or chance your arm with an unknown CMDR or NPC. Maximum payments in accordance with the danger/time taken per mission? I really really like this idea.

I also like the idea of a CMDR communications channel that exists in game. I was reading here yesterday about some people having a problem with "lazy" CMDR's who just look up where to find good trade routes or discounted modules (personally, i don't have a problem here either, it's no different to what you'd do in reality if we were all space jockeys) however, something a little more roleplayish would be lovely. Sort of a pilot's cantina feel, where hot gossip on rares, decent smuggling runs, hot bounties, nice ship deals etc could be shared/posted/left for certain CMDR's at certain stations. So it feels a bit more like a nice stroke of luck than just coming into a forum and searching keywords.

Wouldn't it feel great to get a notifaction in cockpit whilst out exploring or mining, stating you had a private message waiting at some station or other. Class.

And finally... I want paint jobs.... I want decals.... I want. My ship's name on the side of her freaking hull.

Well to be honest I don't like the idea of some random guy getting 650 million either (i mean wheres my money?) but how often would someone actually just up and give that kind of money away (even to a friend).

Either way my fix would be a cap on how many credits you can send or receive in an hour (I'm certain banks have stuff like that) or something along those lines. --Momentai :3
