My thoughts on how to explore

I can't understand why players want to spend as little time as possible in systems. By doing this they'll miss things like 2 ELW orbiting a Neutron Star.

Not true. Even on a speed run, I check every system for interesting items. I have open/close system map bound to my main trigger. I can check for scannable items in just a few seconds while scooping or escaping gravity well.

Its not thorough, but the idea is to minimise travel time between e.g. o-types, nebulae or my route destination while maximising revenue. Efficiency is my goal for speed runs, but I would never miss a neutron star or ELW.

For thoroughness, different story.

I go in zero throttle, detail scan the star, scoop and honk then proceed to detail scan everything except asteroid belts. I don't use the advanced discovery scanner so it can be a long, drawn out satisfying process finding everything via parallax. I figured that I'd waited 30 years to play an explorer like I imagined back then and I'm going to enjoy every minute. :)
Serious kudos to you!
