My top 10 tips for new Commanders

You'll have probably seen a couple of these in the tips section that FD made into a sticky, but I thought I'd post my own top 10 tips from having played for the last 11 months on Xbox.

Even if just one of them proves useful to someone, I'll be happy :)

1. You all know this one - Never fly without a rebuy. The Golden rule of Elite Dangerous
2. Leave Pre-flight checks set to on for the first few hours, it will help you to commit basic flight controls to muscle memory
3. Choose the Horizons startwinder, even if you dont want the SRV, as you can just store it for later use.
4. Play the training scenarios several times before launching for real.
5. Get a notepad and pen, or have notes open on on iPad etc. You will need to make notes for missions and so forth, especially the ones where you need a certain amount of a commodity. Saves you having to flick between menus all the time.
6. Don't be put off buy the ship prices at the start. As you upgrade and your ships get bigger and your ranks and reputation grow, so too will your profit.
7. Always check how far a station or outpost is from the arrival point before accepting a mission.
8. Bind 'Throttle Zero' to a button. I have it set to L1 and R1. It can be a life saver, e.g. trying to throttle back too quickly after a mistake and you can end up reverse thrusting into a station wall.
9. Don't stay in Asellus Primus or LH3447 if you are playing in open. Head out and find a corner of the bubble to call your own.
10. Take your time, and have fun. Explore, trade, and read. Look at everything, and just go at your own pace. The Cutter and Corvette can wait, as they are a massive grind anyway.

See you out there CMDR's, I'll be throwing you an o7 if I see you
