My Type 7 has a fat ass

Almost every time I leave from stations I scrape the entrance on the way out.
What I dont understand is am I scraping the bottom or the top, the cockpit is
placed so strangely on the type 7 that its difficult to figure out right position
on the way out.

To answer your question:
Yes.

I do the same thing with mine, and also my Asp.
Usually it is the bottom, since I pitch up 95% of the time exiting the toaster.

Just dock with 4 pips to shields 2 pips to engine. Gives you protections from going splat for little scraps like that.

That's no way to talk about your w- ... ah right, sorry :)

The cockpit of the Type-7 is right at the bottom of the ship so you should hug the very bottom of the docking slot. It's pretty much impossible to be too close to the bottom of the entrance in the Type-7 so chances are you are scraping the top.

The T7 has a cockpit perfectly positioned for docking; it's on the lower front with great sight forward and down. Simply hug the lower letterbox wall and you'll be fine.
Atm the Clipper is the better alternative anyway, clearly beating the cargo vessel in it's own game while only marginally more expensive. Check Yokai's thread if you like.

In all likelihood, you are scraping the top. Remember that the type 7s cockpit is off-center and near the bottom of the craft. If you are centering your view on the mail slot, then you will likely hit the top of the slot like a semi struck passing under a bridge that is too close to the ground.

Instead your view should be centered slightly bellow the center of the mail slot. Then you should be low enough for the top of your ship to safely exit the station.

When I flew Type-7 first times I had the same problem. Then I noticed I was actually scraping the top. So for me it feels like you have to go very low when you squeeze through the gate with Type-7.

EDIT: Ninja'd by a lot of people. :p
