My Wishlists! 1st Person Mode and Animal DLC

Alright so, before any more animals are added, this game desperately needs a first person mode. Not an Easter egg where you move too fast and can walk through walls, ruining the immersion and giving yourself whiplash, but a way to realistically walk around your zoo like a normal human. Maybe you can also refill animal food and clean trash, like in Zoo Tycoon 2, or take photos with a camera. Maybe we could even visit our friend’s zoos online and walk around. Those are just bonuses though. I really just want to walk around my zoo. That was my favorite aspect of ZT2; I loved giving tours to my friends. Not having that option in Planet Zoo has been the biggest disappointment in this game for me, though I really do love this game.

After that though, here are some ideas for Animal packs and DLC.

~ Aviary Expansion Pack ~
The biggest one! We need more birds but also the option to make small, covered habitats for animals that are too big to be exhibit animals, but too small (and flighty) for big fences and lots of space. Pangolins, red pandas, lemurs, and capuchins could realistically be kept in large aviaries. Plus I’d like more options for making “small mammal houses.”
This would be a larger pack as it would need to add a new mechanic (exhibit netting/roofing). Animals that would be great additions could be:
  • Andean Condor
  • Secretary Bird
  • Bearded Vulture
  • Scarlet Macaw
  • Hyacinth Macaw
  • Red-tailed Black Cockatoo
  • Major Mitchell’s Cockatoo
  • Kea
  • Southern Ground Hornbill
  • Sun Conure
  • Toco Toucan
  • Golden Pheasant
  • Great Argus
  • Victoria Crowned Pigeon
  • Common Raven
  • African Crowned Crane
  • Stanley Crane
  • Shoebill
  • Saddle-billed Stork
  • Trumpeter Swan
  • Emperor Penguin (or any Penguin really, but I’m gonna be listing a lot of other species in the following wishlists lol) (King Penguin is close enough)
  • Atlantic Puffin
  • Northern or Southern Cassowary
  • Kiwi
  • Golden Lion Tamarin
  • Prevost’s Squirrel
  • Tamandua
  • Two-Toed Sloth (Sure, I guess we’re getting three-toed sloth instead)
Some of these wouldn’t necessarily need an aviary roof of course (and maybe there could even be an option to clip wings if you don’t use a roof) but would still fit in with a bird or small exhibit theme. (And some may benefit from a roof they can climb or hang from)

~ Marine Animals Expansion Pack ~
This would be a big one, and probably a little harder to implement than the other packs listed here, but it’s one people have been clamoring for so I might as well input some of my own clamor.
  • Stellar Sea Lion
  • California Sea Lion
  • Leopard Seal
  • Ribbon Seal
  • Walrus (I know, I know, lots of pinnipeds here... I couldn’t choose)
  • West Indian Manatee
  • Giant River Otter
  • Beluga
  • Vaquita
  • Green Sea Turtle
  • Leatherback Sea Turtle
  • Humphead Wrasse
  • Ocean Sunfish
  • Australian Lungfish
  • Leopard Whipray
  • Whale Shark
  • Zebra Shark
  • Sand Tiger Shark
  • Silver Arowana
  • Arapaima
  • Redtail Catfish
  • Beluga Sturgeon
  • Giant Pacific Octopus
  • Exhibits featuring smaller fish like clownfish, angelfish, gobies, eels, cephalopods, shrimp, etc. These could come in shapes aside from the usual cube exhibit. Just think... an Amazon aviary that you walk in and are greated by a huge tank of darting neon tetras, or looming piranhas, and then you walk around inside an open air aviary full of Golden Lion Tamarins, Toucans, and Sun Conures.
  • Touch tank featuring rays, skates, and horseshoe crabs
Another mechanic that would be cool to add on to this pack would be those walk-through underwater tubes.

~ Endangered Animals Expansion Pack ~
This would be a good pack for highlighting some lesser known endangered animals, as well as ones that zoos in particular have brought back from the brink of extinction through breeding programs.
  • Amur Leopard
  • California Condor
  • Dama Gazelle
  • Przewalski's Wild Horse
  • Black Rhinoceros
  • Saola
  • Galapagos Sea Lion
  • Chacoan Peccary (no the collared peccary does not count; it’s not endangered)
  • Madagascar Big-Headed Turtle
  • Chinese Alligator
  • Chinese Giant Salamander
  • Whooping Crane (aviary animal)
  • Giant Ibis (aviary animal)
  • Panama Golden Frog (exhibit animal)
  • Gooty Sapphire Ornamental Tarantula (exhibit animal)
~ Australia Expansion Pack ~
Planet Zoo is missing a critical “genre” of zoo animals: Australian animals! This would make a good large pack to start off, but I have also scattered some other Australian animals throughout my other lists.
  • Red Kangaroo
  • Koala
  • Common Wombat
  • Tasmanian Devil
  • Quokka
  • Eastern Quoll
  • Rakali
  • Platypus
  • Short-beaked Echidna
  • Emu
  • Little Penguin
  • Goanna
  • Black Swan (aviary animal?)
  • Sugar Glider (aviary animal)
  • Flying Fox (aviary animal)
  • Kookaburra (aviary animal)
  • Lesser Sooty Owl (aviary animal)
  • Inland Taipan (exhibit animal)
  • Frilled Lizard (exhibit animal)
  • Bellinger River Snapping Turtle (exhibit animal)
  • Corroboree Frog (exhibit animal)

And now for the “mini packs”, following the pattern of DLC we’ve seen so far that come with four animals each.

~ Mini North America Pack ~
Because we need more North American animals!
  • Mountain Lion
  • Moose
  • North American Beaver
  • Bald Eagle (aviary animal)
~ Mini Himalayan Pack -
We have snow leopards, we have brown bears, we have red pandas, (and maybe hopefully bearded vultures and clouded leopards someday wink wink nudge nudge) might as well make a whole Himalayan section! (I mostly just want takin; they’re so cute)
  • Takin
  • Markhor
  • Tibetan Sand Fox
  • Himalayan Monal (aviary animal)
~ Mini Madagascar Pack ~
We have two lemur species and hissing cockroaches, but Madagascar is such a hotspot of diversity, I want a whole Madagascar building in my zoo!
  • Fossa
  • Diademed Sifaka
  • Blue Coua (aviary animal)
  • Panther Chameleon (exhibit animal)
~ Mini New Guinea Pack ~
Continuing the themes of island biodiversity, how about New Guinea?
  • New Guinea Singing Dog
  • Matschie’s Tree Kangaroo
  • Long-beaked Echidna
  • Common Spotted Cuscus
~ Mini New Zealand Pack ~
So I already suggested quite a few New Zealand animals (see the aviary and Australia pack list), but these islands still have so much more to offer!
  • New Zealand Fur Seal
  • Yellow-Eyed Penguin
  • Kakapo
  • Giant Weta (exhibit animal)
~ Mini Hawaii Pack ~
Might as well ¯\(ツ)
  • Hawaiian Monk Seal
  • Hawaiian Honeycreeper (aviary animal)
  • Nene (aviary animal)
  • Hawaiian Hoary Bat (aviary or exhibit animal)
~ Mini Africa Pack ~
I know we already have a lot of Africa content but we’re missing some animals that would make great additions to our zoos.
  • White Rhinoceros
  • African Black-Footed Penguin
  • Aardwolf
  • Crested Porcupine
~ Mini Wild Dog Pack ~
More canids please!
  • Maned Wolf
  • Raccoon Dog
  • Fennec Fox
  • Dingo
~ Mini Wild Cat Pack ~
Hey, why not?
  • Clouded Leopard
  • Canada Lynx (Eurasian Lynx works too)
  • Serval
  • Caracal
~ Mini Viverrid Pack ~
Because these lesser known animals need more appreciation!
  • Common Genet
  • Banded Palm Civet
  • African Civet
  • Binturong
~ Mini Procyonid Pack ~
More lesser known animals that need more appreciation!
  • Coati
  • Kinkajou
  • Ringtail
  • Raccoon
~ Mini Rodent Pack ~
Rodents are great! Also we really missed out on the capybara when the South America pack was released. :c
  • Capybara
  • Prehensile-tailed Porcupine
  • Northern Luzon Giant Cloud Rat
  • Naked Mole-rat (exhibit animal)
~ Mini Primate Pack ~
What’s a few more primates?
  • Lar Gibbon
  • Mantled Guereza
  • Red-shanked Douc
  • Slow Loris
~ Small Mammal Pack ~
For those little guys I couldn’t fit into the other packs but who are still quite important!
  • Meerkat
  • Pallas’ Cat
  • Prairie Dog
  • Vampire Bat (aviary animal? Or even exhibit animal)
~ Petting Zoo Pack ~
This may require a new mechanic of visitors being able to hand feed and otherwise interact with petting zoo-type animals, whether in a walk-through exhibit or over/through a specific petting zoo fence. The llamas could be included with this new mechanic, since they’re domestic animals.
  • American Pygmy Goat
  • Miniature Donkey
  • Kunekune or Potbelly Pig
  • Miniature Highland Ox
~ “Rare Breeds” Pack ~
This pack would exhibit unusual breeds of domestic animals (so, not ones that would occur in the wild, but would still be interesting for people to see) and could also branch off of the petting zoo pack.
  • Mangalica Pig
  • Onagadori Chicken
  • Sebastopol Goose
  • Jacob’s Sheep
And one more mini pack:

~ Pollinator Pack ~
This would be real small but I would just like the simple addition of adding one of those see-through bee hives.
Some further items that could come with this pack would be more variety of native wildflowers.
Maybe adding hives to your zoo could cause butterflies and bees to spawn, and maybe you could even have the option of growing your own herbivore and guest food and the presence of bees would make them grow faster/better.
Idk, I just want more options to put the “Bee Decline Crisis” info board next to 😅

So yeah, you may notice most of the animals I’d like to see are on the smaller side, but I think we have enough of the large, impressive animals in Planet Zoo. Smaller animals are a staple in real zoos, and will provide more options for filling up smaller areas of our parks, and provide more options for making buildings. Smaller animals also need some more appreciation, and putting them in a game that forces people to observe and learn about them can really help in their conservation.

But also, I just think they’re Neat.

Updated since some of these have been implemented already (I’ve crossed them out.)

So here are some amendments for the animals left behind (plus some additions):

~ Wild Cat Pack ~
  • Amur Leopard
  • Serval
  • Caracal
  • Ocelot
  • Jaguarundi
  • Pallas’ Cat
  • Andean Mountain Cat
  • Sand Cat

~ Rodent Pack ~
  • Capybara
  • Prehensile-tailed Porcupine
  • African Crested Porcupine
  • Northern Luzon Giant Cloud Rat
  • Rakali
  • Agouti (any species)
  • Patagonian Mara
  • Naked Mole-rat (exhibit animal)
  • Chinchilla (exhibit animal)

And none of the exhibit animals on my wishlist have been implemented yet (rip), but here they are all together:
  • Panama Golden Frog
  • Gooty Sapphire Ornamental Tarantula
  • Inland Taipan
  • Frilled Lizard
  • Bellinger River Snapping Turtle
  • Corroboree Frog
  • Panther Chameleon
  • Giant Weta
  • Naked Mole-rat
  • Chinchilla
  • Hawaiian Hoary Bat (aviary or exhibit animal)
  • Vampire Bat (aviary animal? Or even exhibit animal)
  • Exhibits featuring smaller fish like clownfish, angelfish, gobies, eels, cephalopods, shrimp, etc.
  • Madagascar Big-Headed Turtle (?)
  • Chinese Giant Salamander (?)

We still have no procyonids ;_;

I think right now capybaras, maned wolves, some type of leopard (preferably amur), and some type of porcupine are at the top of my list (aside from aviary animals.)

It was interesting to go back and find this after 3 and half years! I’m glad so many of the animals on my wish list have been implemented (I’ve crossed them out now), especially that almost all of the animals in my “Australian Animal Pack” list are now in the game! It’s nice to see evidence that the devs listen to us.

As times change I now have new priorities and a new wishlist. I’m not sure how much longer we have to get new packs, but I do hope some of these animals will make it into the game so I can really make the zoo of my dreams!

1. Brazilian Porcupine
2. Southern Pudu
3. Mantled Guereza
4. Chacoan Peccary
5. Northern Luzon Giant Cloud Rat
6. Southern Ground Hornbill
7. Golden Takin
8. North American Porcupine
9. South American Coati
10. Prevost’s Squirrel
11. Saddle-billed Stork
12. Black and Rufous Elephant Shrew
13. Shoebill
14. Northern Bald Ibis
15. Reeves’s Muntjac
16. Golden Pheasant
17. Silver Pheasant
18. Temminks’s Tragopan
19. Golden Lion Tamarin
20. Greater Kudu
21. Yellow-throated Marten
22. Kori Bustard
23. Secretary Bird
24. Jabiru
25. Himalayan Tahr
26. Squirrel Monkey
27. Collared Mangabey
28. Markhor
29. Alligator Snapping Turtle
30. Crowned Lemur
31. Blue-eyed Black Lemur
32. Ocellated Turkey
33. Ring-tailed Vontsira
34. Jaguarundi
35. Himalayan Monal
36. Raccoon Dog
37. Andean Bear
38. Sloth Bear
39. White-tailed Mongoose

42. California Condor
43. Andean Condor
44. Bearded Vulture
45. Cuban Crocodile
46. Panama Golden Frog
47. Chinese Giant Salamander
48. Panther Chameleon

Also, at this point I don’t see how a bird pack would be so hard to implement? They’ve already shown they can do it with the bats and butterflies.

It could include some habitat birds like Southern Ground Hornbill, Greater Rhea, Saddle-billed Stork, and Shoebill, and then some walk-thru exhibits like a pheasant aviary, a tropical aviary, a desert aviary, etc. featuring multiple species like what was done with the butterflies.
