Alright so, before any more animals are added, this game desperately needs a first person mode. Not an Easter egg where you move too fast and can walk through walls, ruining the immersion and giving yourself whiplash, but a way to realistically walk around your zoo like a normal human. Maybe you can also refill animal food and clean trash, like in Zoo Tycoon 2, or take photos with a camera. Maybe we could even visit our friend’s zoos online and walk around. Those are just bonuses though. I really just want to walk around my zoo. That was my favorite aspect of ZT2; I loved giving tours to my friends. Not having that option in Planet Zoo has been the biggest disappointment in this game for me, though I really do love this game.
After that though, here are some ideas for Animal packs and DLC.
~ Aviary Expansion Pack ~
The biggest one! We need more birds but also the option to make small, covered habitats for animals that are too big to be exhibit animals, but too small (and flighty) for big fences and lots of space. Pangolins, red pandas, lemurs, and capuchins could realistically be kept in large aviaries. Plus I’d like more options for making “small mammal houses.”
This would be a larger pack as it would need to add a new mechanic (exhibit netting/roofing). Animals that would be great additions could be:
~ Marine Animals Expansion Pack ~
This would be a big one, and probably a little harder to implement than the other packs listed here, but it’s one people have been clamoring for so I might as well input some of my own clamor.
~ Endangered Animals Expansion Pack ~
This would be a good pack for highlighting some lesser known endangered animals, as well as ones that zoos in particular have brought back from the brink of extinction through breeding programs.
Planet Zoo is missing a critical “genre” of zoo animals: Australian animals! This would make a good large pack to start off, but I have also scattered some other Australian animals throughout my other lists.
And now for the “mini packs”, following the pattern of DLC we’ve seen so far that come with four animals each.
~ Mini North America Pack ~
Because we need more North American animals!
We have snow leopards, we have brown bears, we have red pandas, (and maybe hopefully bearded vultures andclouded leopards someday wink wink nudge nudge) might as well make a whole Himalayan section! (I mostly just want takin; they’re so cute)
We have two lemur species and hissing cockroaches, but Madagascar is such a hotspot of diversity, I want a whole Madagascar building in my zoo!
Continuing the themes of island biodiversity, how about New Guinea?
So I already suggested quite a few New Zealand animals (see the aviary and Australia pack list), but these islands still have so much more to offer!
Might as well ¯\(ツ)/¯
I know we already have a lot of Africa content but we’re missing some animals that would make great additions to our zoos.
More canids please!
Hey, why not?
Because these lesser known animals need more appreciation!
More lesser known animals that need more appreciation!
Rodents are great! Also we really missed out on the capybara when the South America pack was released. :c
What’s a few more primates?
For those little guys I couldn’t fit into the other packs but who are still quite important!
This may require a new mechanic of visitors being able to hand feed and otherwise interact with petting zoo-type animals, whether in a walk-through exhibit or over/through a specific petting zoo fence. The llamas could be included with this new mechanic, since they’re domestic animals.
This pack would exhibit unusual breeds of domestic animals (so, not ones that would occur in the wild, but would still be interesting for people to see) and could also branch off of the petting zoo pack.
~ Pollinator Pack ~
This would be real small but I would just like the simple addition of adding one of those see-through bee hives.
Some further items that could come with this pack would be more variety of native wildflowers.
Maybe adding hives to your zoo could cause butterflies and bees to spawn, and maybe you could even have the option of growing your own herbivore and guest food and the presence of bees would make them grow faster/better.
Idk, I just want more options to put the “Bee Decline Crisis” info board next to
So yeah, you may notice most of the animals I’d like to see are on the smaller side, but I think we have enough of the large, impressive animals in Planet Zoo. Smaller animals are a staple in real zoos, and will provide more options for filling up smaller areas of our parks, and provide more options for making buildings. Smaller animals also need some more appreciation, and putting them in a game that forces people to observe and learn about them can really help in their conservation.
But also, I just think they’re Neat.
