Mysterious "Coffee" Machine in Cockpit

Does anyone know what is the machine in the cockpit of the Federal Assault Ship? It looks like a coffee or soft drink machine. Maybe a 3D food printer.

Is there an official explanation?

The Federal Assault ship is only for those with godlike flying skills and reflexes. Knowing this when they designed it, and fearing that lesser pilots would struggle with the sheer awesomeness of it, they included not one, but TWO coffee machines, so that the less godlike could at least try to keep up using some kind of caffeine-fueled rage.

The question is when do we get a THIRD! ;)

The FAS, the FGS and the FDS. It's a Core Dynamics thing, there's even one on each side so it you're left handed, you can still help yourself to some coffee with optimal lateral comfort. Not sure about the Vulture, it's been a while.

I'm pretty sure I can hear coffee percolator noises in my FDS cockpit, every now and then.

I genuinely hope this is the case, because that's funny and awesome at the same time, and I'd be very proud of the already-awesome Frontier art department if this were the case :)

edit: I meant FDS, not FDL :p
