It was marked stolen and I sold it on the black market.

I saw a few USSs a thousand lightyears out but having no shields and weak thrusters/power setup I didn't have the courage to drop out of supercruise...

Probably a precursor to intro of aliens in game.

Seems like a great opening act.

Federation Pilots on the outter rim, finding alien artifacts, some of them are bound to be weapons, we reproduce them, the tech scares us, our scientists start to think of ways to modify our soldiers to put up more of a fight, then we start producing weapons based off of said alien weapons/artifacts..and boom perfect entry point of aliens..great "hint".

Hmmm...

Procedurally generated Weapons (or Mods?) coming some time in the future, Drones coming soon...
Me thinks we'll get a few buried teasers for the V1.3 update

I only got 8 tons of Cargo space and am some 800LY out right now - but if I find anything weird enough, I'll be sure to bring it back

Some sort of teaser for 1.3 most likley, It may just for the drone tech. Galnet is how they tease things to the players who don't obsessively follow the forums and newsletters.

Is this just some generic procedural story thing, or is it unique? Has anyone seen similar stories in other sectors?

I like the idea that this may be teasing for procedural weapons. But that's mainly because I like the idea that these may come with 1.3
