Mystery Ship: What is an Unmanned CMDR ?

Your ship gets labeled as "unmanned" if you deploy an SRV or pilot an SLF from it and you don't have NPC crew onboard.

Clearly, neither of these things should be possible from a python in a CZ, so this is a bug of some sort.

Saw this thread and my first thought was that the OP would include a pic' of a ship landed on the surface.
Nope.
2nd thought was that it'll be a ship with an SLF deployed.
It's a Python, so nope x2.

Wonder if, perhaps, it's something to do with getting an SRV stuck and then swapping to the non-Horizons version of the game (assuming a PC player) in order to get un-stuck again?

Unlikely. This was in an AX CZ, one of the most hazardous places to be. The ship appeared to function by flying around, even if it didn't engage, and it turned around and departed (not a disconnect as far as I could see) when in proximity to a large Thargoid.

It was obviously a developer in 'test mode' in the live build. He, or she, was hurried in making the Python, and forgot to UN-able 'magic mode'.
Was the docking computer named 'Fred'?

Not such a crazy suggestion. I wonder what a Dev controlled ship would look like in 'magic mode' while checking out the CZ.

A long shot but it might be a mix up of KS backer generated names from launch. (Admittedly this would involve some clever person guessing the CMDR prefix before it was decided).
Alternatively, do CMDR names still form the NPC names in some clever procedural way? if so it might be formed from the database of current CMDR names.

To be a bit boring. Could it be the state you see when a cmdr has not yet picked a side in the CZ?
I would expect it if SLF was deployed without crew, but has got to be a bad idea.

You are correct, if the CMDR had not agreed to accept the CZ challenge against the Thargoids, or had not hit a ship, the hollow triangle would remain yellow.

But the ship was a Python, which doesn't carry a SLF.

Interesting that the ship had deployed hardpoints though, it wasn't just swanning around .... there must have been some deliberate intent to engage in combat at some stage.
