another one bites the dust
another one of the old school mmo developers has finally been steamrollered by Electronic Arts after EA forced the devs to produce the fiendish Dungeon Keeper (p2w & mt fest). mythic should mostly be known for The Dark Ages of Camelot, the best group pvp/large scale mayhem mmorpg there has been. 3 years of sheer joy, camaraderie and carnage.
mythic got the golden opportunity by getting the Warhammer license of Tom & crew, but it went all terribly wrong.
the main force behind mythic, mark jacobs, has run a ks for his new game, Camelot Unchained with success ($2,6mio). looks a very good prospect, with a chance to bring back good old group centric pvp and large scale mayhem.
anyone been involved in daoc or looking at camelot unchained?
ps: Electronic Arts killed the mmorpg genre pretty much all by themselves. they closed one of the best British studios of all time Origin, developers of the legend Ultima Online, too.
pps: fdev has been smart in staying alone through the darker years, now they soon might have all the opportunities.
