n00b Sticky?

So I am a n00b, i got in the beta a while back, but just didn't have time to get on the game.

I now have a nice brandy new laptop fresh install of the game, played the missions and I'm sorta at a loss of what to do next. I've been in here reading, hoping there was a noob sticker...like New to Elite. Start Here! sort of thing.
It's like moving to a new city and not knowing anyone. Like whos who, who do I want to align myself with etc...

Anyway just a suggestion.

Up to date we did no have any tutorial but had to learn everything by trial and error.

Have you completed at least several SP scenarios so that you could have learned some basic gameplay mechanics?

Then you can try starting MP. I would suggest flying towards Eranin 2 planet and looking for a Federal Distress Signal there. Use the left UI panel for navigation. When you arrive to Federal Distress use the right UI panel to choose one of the faction and have some combat practice.

there are some threads to look at but you must understand, that for anyone out there who thinks that game MUST have a manual is one who likes to discover all on his own, also manuals in beta from developers are waste of time.

Of course we were all N-zero-zero- once, but we got to grips with ED gradually - so until commercial release (which will almost certainly contain a tutorial of some sort) I recommend you rely on the various threads on this forum for the most part. Spend some time looking around - I guarantee you'll enjoy learning all the eccentricities and miscellaneous technical details involved in playing ED. The steep(ish) learning curve (actually not that steep) and the depth of ED are really what make it worth playing. An interest in astronomy and zoiking baddies are also desirable :)

Have fun, Commander.
