Name change bug or clarification?

I requested a name change before the first batch error, then submitted the same name request again, as per instructions. The name I am requesting is "Gulskjegg". It is not offensive or vulgar in any way, but actually references one of my favorite Monty Python movies, Yellowbeard, circa 1983. Gulskjegg actually means "Yellowbeard" in Norwegian, and can be confirmed here: http://www.filmfront.no/omtale/2632/yellowbeard

I have seen members post that their name change request came back within hours, but mine still shows as Commander Alpha Backer #54663 after several days. I hope this clarifies my request, and I look forward to beginning the Beta as Commander Gulskjegg. Thanks!

I'm still waiting on the name change to, I suppose that after the first batch yesterday in the afternoon, Ashley will process the requested name changes today as he starts work.

Unfortunately checking the commander names is probably a manual process, since a lot of people have names that would not scan well through a typical spell checker dictionary (mine included). Poor Ashley probably has quite a few thousand to check and personally I don't envy him or or whoever is doing the task. I would hope by now its set up so its not dependent on a new build but stored in a database and read when you connect.

Just wondering, have you checked your Commander name status at the Backers' App and/or support.orerve.net ?

And:
Hi everyone,

As most of you probably know, at the beginning of this week we opened up the facility for all alpha and premium beta players to finally change their commander names, through https://support.orerve.net/. Well today we attempted a batch update of names for the first time, and it turns out a nasty Trumble may have got stuck in the works...

The result of this is that any name requests that have been made through orerve.net this week have sadly been lost, and will need to be resubmitted. We're extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused by this, and will busy ourselves with approving all of your commander names in preparation for the beta!

The process for submitting your commander name is the same as before:

1. Login at: https://support.orerve.net/
2. Navigate to the ‘COMMANDER PROFILE’ tab
3. Enter your desired new commander name in the ‘Request a New Name’ field and press the ‘Request Name Change’ button.
4. If this is approved it will update the commander name at the top of the page.
5. If it is automatically denied a red message will appear above the field, stating the reason for the rejection.
6. If it is manually denied the player will receive an email telling them that their name has been rejected, once the batch update is complete.

If you have any questions feel free to pitch them below, and sorry again!

I'm a Premium Beta backer - so I can't test this for myself - but I do have a question about this name change thing.

My commander profile on https://support.orerve.net shows the commander name I want (my actual name). Does that mean I don't need to use that name setting page? Is it just for pledgers who didn't reserve their names right at the start during the Kickstarter run? Or will I end up with "Beta backer #1111" and need to change it to the name I've already reserved?

I'm quite sure that this is indeed the case.

If you were a Kickstarter pledger and reserved a Commander Name via the Backers' App, you don't need to do anything. Only if you want to change the name you chose then, or if you have purchased Alpha or prem Beta after the Backers' App closed (9th December 2013 or later), you need to use that orerve.net feature.

I am less concerned with the timeframe than I am with someone at Frontier assuming that Gulskjegg means something untoward. I just wanted to make it clear that the name is mostly harmless.
