Aside from the arctic animals, it seems that most of the North American animals such as bison, grizzly bears, etc, are pulling from a list of very general "popular in North America" names. Most animal names reflect the native cultures of the places where they are located; why are there not any names from indigenous American groups as a part of the North American animal name pool? This is especially egregious with the bison as it is an animal with great significance to several different cultures of the North American prairie regions. Even if they they're only added as options and don't entirely replace the existing name list, there should still be options. Skunks do seem to have names from indigenous American cultures, so why have they not been back added to other species?
