Elite / Frontier Naming an actual planet Lave

Hey all,

There's a Citizen Science charity called Uwingu that is running a competition for naming a planet. I noticed that Lave wasn't on the list so fronted up the cash (planet nominations and votes are paid for (funds go towards science/astronomy grants)) to nominate it.

I won't post the link (yet) as I don't want to spam here(and if you're interested it's an easy search). My question is; Is it okay to post the link to the site?

Currently the competition allows the naming of Alpha Centuri Bb. This will be the first ever exo planet with a "proper" name and it's been opened up to the public to name it.

Great idea, and a good way for small donations to get to space research. Found it by googling the charity name.

its a laugh looking through the current votes as well, Mitt Romney is on 24 Votes, Barack Obama is on 25!

only $0.99 to vote so worth a punt it you have a bit of spare change ;)

FD will be cursing if "Lave" is chosen for this planet. At some point they'll want to amend the star map for "real" bodies, which would leave the current Lave needing a new name.
Does this make sense?

I have a headache. :rolleyes:

If the galaxy is going to be as close to reality as is possible, I hope we will be able to determine which star in the sky Lave is supposed to be.

Well it won't be the star but a planet orbiting said star. In reality it could be any of them, its location really doesn't matter all that much. What matters is that in a few hundred years time people from Earth might be exploring Lave for real. That's got to be worth 99 cents of anyone's money!

I can't remember what (procedurally generated) creatures or drinks etc Lave was famed for that the explorers will find there. Some form of furry creature?

Edit: of course... Lave is most famous for its vast rain forests and the Laveian tree grub.
