Nani Nani Boo Boo!

So Iv'e noticed a silly little phenomina which seems to be proliferating across the galaxy...players shying away (or flat out hauling butt) from other players for no apparent reason!
At first I thawt it isolated incidents but now after dozens of experiences I have to ask....why the stranger danger? I'm tryin to make frends here! :)

Making friends with pew pew, is not the correct method ? Trust no one ! "Elite : Paranoia" :D

LOL, I'm not shooting at anyone...or are you saying its the ship that matters (some scare more easily than others?)
Redic either way...was docking at an outpost last nite, player comes out of SC approaches the station (where I currently have landing gear deployed in vertical descent) I say "Hi" n he suddenly boosts out and engages FSD...really curious.

Maybe he couldn't dock and went somewhere else. The chat system in this game isn't the most intuative - I wouldn't be suprised if a lot of people don't know how to use it, and never look in that corner, so he may not have even noticed your message.

Or maybe you're flying a ship without a shower module?

Yes I considered that but that was only the latest example, it has happened numerous times...Im thinking players R expecting other players to automatically PVP and the point in this post is to let them know...most of us arent going to attack for the hell of it..so relax ;)

It could be some karma thing. Sometimes scare the crap out of people in real life, and yet the mirror seems to reflect nothing outside of the ordinary.

Ha ha, all the talkative lot are down in Imperial space, thats where the party is, just kidding.

I've added to my friends almost in every iconic location I've been so far, all out of chance.

Lave, Sol, Aulin, LHS 3447, and now Achenar.

I hope the party is just getting started.

There appears to be a better quality of gamer in Elite than in any other platform I've played in so far.

I flew around a commander in an eagle outside of a station using my cobra. I turned on my lights and said "Hello", the commander responded "hi" and I asked if they were a new player. The ship looked at me did a spin then flew away.

It was a very intellectual discussion, I feel.

I'm guessing perhaps new players are a bit distrusting of other players in bigger ships?

Someone hailed me last night, but just as I was replying, she was gone.
I suspect the message had been there for a while but I overlooked it...
So it may be just people being distracted by whatever they're doing, which is often through-jumping to the next waypoint on the trip.

Yea, has happened numerous times to me that I see/notice messages in comm LONG after their poster has gone their own merry way. Probably because the interdicting NPCs and Security scans and whatnot have made me to pretty much ignore the comms window most of the time.

Yeah, I've noticed that a lot of people, as soon as you do one of these they high tail it outta here.

  1. Friend Request
  2. Text Chat, I only said "Hi CMDR"
  3. Getting behind them in SC, well I suppose that one can look aggressive, I'm only checking if your clean though
  4. Getting any where near them, I've had someone who's trying to land then see me come out of SC and think sod it I'm off and SC outta there.

I've often just about to enter SC or HS and see a CMDR and often abort to try and talk, I'd say 1 in 10 actually chat back, the rest either ignore or run away.

In the darkest and most dangerous jungles of the world, filled with hostile and poisonous creatures, the most dangerous and unpredictable creature of all is the "human".

I have noticed the same thing. Even docked at a station I have targeted CMDR players and greeted them with a simple "Safe travels" or "Greetings pilot" only to get no response at all.

After the 8th or 9th such encounter I have realized that maybe the Comms system is not user friendly?

At some point someone sent me a "hello" of sorts via chat but I just couldn't respond. I couldn't find them in the chat's contacts :( Perhaps this happens often?

When using the keyboard to fly, chatting is a bit dangerous around a station. But I try to reply.

I tried talking to another player while we were both "on hold" waiting for a spot to land, but still got the silence treatment.

LOL!!! Thanks for the laugh, I'll take all I can get! And yes, a fire breathing cat would be a fearsome thing... still wouldn't match the devious cunning of a human tho. Cats are pretty honest and straightforward in comparison.

Can you tell that I spent too much time in the EVE universe?
