Nanotechnology and the ED galaxy

The moment 2.2 arrived it occured to me that the predictions made by Drexler below has arrived finally in the year 3002ish at ED...oh that Science-ism!! lol ---well at least by the looks of the mission board.

ED galaxy residents must be able to handle / dismantle at the nano level their own biowaste, grow materials, food and basically anything that can be made from the nano level of creation. Why? In a system of millions and billions where I am fully allied with all factions IF they have anyting to haul at all its 1 to a max of 2 missions pay that 10 times less than pre 2.2.
Now thats nanotech immersion!

It has to be...FD would never cattle drive their valued player base from one area of activity that they obviously wanted their players to partake in to something else...right?

(Things that become practical with advance nanotechology (paraphrasing Dr. K. Eric Drexler):
Nearly free consumer products
PC's billions of times faster then today
Safe and affordable space travel
Virtual end to illness, aging, death
No more pollution and automatic cleanup of existing pollution
End of famine and starvation
Superior education for every child on Earth
Reintroduction of many extinct plants and animals
Terraforming Earth and the Solar System)

Such "predictions" are made from time to time when somethnig new is discovered...
One recent thing that comes to mind is nuclear power after first functional reactors were bult. There was a moment in history when a lot of people believed it will solve all problems, there were similar predictions, but... as we can see it did not work.
Same thing may have happened to "nanotechnology" long before 3*** year...

Also all that nonsense about mission payouts/immersion is disturbing...

If they have anything for YOU to haul.

Remember that there are other Commanders there. Dozens at the same station as you at times, possibly.

The Elite game is very much NOT post scarcity. We have money and jobs transporting things. Elite very much takes its cues from the Traveller game.
