Narcotics, they aren't worth very much, are they?

I was quite annoyed to have just risked a bounty on my head after having picked up a big load of narcotics after a fight with an NPC pirate, to have traversed a considerable distance to the only station with a black market that I know of, only to find that the containers were worth 200 Credits a piece!

What is the point in having illegal items in the game when they are worth so little? Utterly stupid design decision, not too mention that a kilo of cocaine at retail price would collect about the same as a kilo gold bar in the real world.

So many tiny little ways that Frontier could make this game so much better (without necessarily adding anything to it), and that is just one of many.

Bah....

I seem to remember in the original elite that narcotics were very profitable, probably why i always tried to run them and always got into trouble. I still run them now but not for profit, i do it to trade on the dark side. I think there could be lots of missions to supply and of course disrupt supply, note to the dev's lots of story potential here for future mission's.

There are profitable illegal/stolen goods to be sold on the black market.
The thing is to find the right market and the right goods.

Yep. There were no greater profit margins to be had than in Narcotics back in the day and this is the way it should be.

Contraband is contraband and the illegality of the product itself puts a massive premium on the product. Don't what the devs thinking is but having Narcotics as a low value low profit commodity, that nontheless requires a black market station and requires the gamer to run the risk of the Feds blasting him out the sky and running up large bounties over his head, is design stupidity in it's purest form.

Not dabbled too much in black market stuff myself right now, though as an observation the market / value of currency is a bit messed up relative to the costs / values of things.

Relative to commodity values, ship / hardware is EXTREMELY low.

If the best profits were to be made from black market items, profits which could not be made trading regular commidities (bar a few exceptions and rares of course) there would be a distinct risk vs reward in place to be the bad guy and those illegal premium prices would be there to make money off of.

IMO smuggling as it is, is neutered.
Why on Earth/in Galaxy would illegal items be sold at half price?
Makes sense for stolen items, yes, that's how it works.
But to buy legally manufactured drugs with scalable economy advantage and to then expect it to sold at half the price in territory where demand is absolutely overwhelming supply while also having to add premium for taking risks, makes no sense at all.

Only thing i put my hopes is that this is just WIP/placeholder system to be expanded/fixed.
I really do hope..
