Astronomy / Space NASA Just Released The Largest Picture Ever Taken – And It’s Mind-Blowing

Title is wrong - it's a long way from the largest image ever taken. It's only the largest image of the Andromeda Galaxy.

SDSS's total imaging footprint for example is more like a terapixel than a gigapixel, and DECam takes 570 megapixels in just one shot.

So 8K digital photo list or holder, doesn't do it right so much bigger a fotolist as big as the wall.

So a 32K folding screen for a wall make sense now.

And someone out there looks at us at the same moment and does think the same speechless thougts. Unbelievable incredible picture. I am so happy to live in a time where i can see such beauty about the galaxy, even though my mind cant grasp the scale of it.
I thank you very much for sharing !

Here's another thought that comes to mind, think of all those planets orbiting all of those billions of stars in just that one galaxy?

Got me, good point, I'll change the title. :D (Well, I would if I could) :)

I saw this linked on another site I follow, and jumped over here to make sure it was posted. Sure enough, the ED astronomy fans are on the case.

Right, that was what I couldn't help thinking while the clip panned across all that "dust" in the image. Not every one guaranteed to be a full planetary system. But from what we've seen so far in near star system surveys using gravitational methods, most of those pinpoint stars probably have planets. Mind-boggling!

For the people on this planet that still believe we are the only intelligent life forms in the universe does this picture answers your question? Let me guess it's fake. If it wasn't for science we probably still believe the world was flat. I have a question for everyone, I got feeling that we haven't reached our full technology threshold then why is it technology progression suddenly slowed down to a grind?
