Astronomy / Space NASA Mission To Visit Jupiter's Moon Europa Moves To Final Construction Phase

A mission to sample Jupiter’s moon Europa for signs of life will move into its final design and construction phase, according to a NASA announcement.

Scientists have long wondered whether the ice-covered moon could harbour life in a subsurface liquid water ocean. NASA has committed to a launch readiness date in 2025, though the mission could be ready as soon as 2023.

It is important to find the life on other worlds, since on our Earth we are losing thousands of animal species that we do not really protect ...

Im extremely excited by the notions of oceans on Enceladus and Europa.
I think this mission is more of an oirbital mapping probe though, no mention of a surface element.
I've seen the idea of a submersible being used in some conversations. But contamination is a major problem to be overcome.

Interesting ! But it's also important to spend our energy and our money to protect our oceans on the Earth.

Honestly, have these people not bothered to read Arthur C. Clarke - HAL's warning:

ALL THESE WORLDS ARE YOURS – EXCEPT EUROPA.
ATTEMPT NO LANDINGS THERE.

Doomed I tell you, doomed.

Of course.... But if you want to pick out something that humans spend money on that is wasteful and could be better spent on saving this wonderful planet of ours.... Then may i suggest the money wasted around the world on military budgets.... be the poster boy.

Science and exploration is never a waste of money, our understanding and knoweldge of this universe is our primary survival tool.
Knowledge is never a loss, it is always a gain.

Yes, of course there are other expense items that we can delete.

The exploration is essential.
