What really surprises me, whenever I watch any of the many interviews Buzz Aldrin gives, is how little sense of humour he has.

There isn't a trace of self effacement about him. I don't know if that's good or bad.

Ali G referred to conspiracy theorists who suggested the Moon doesn't exist and he just couldn't see the joke at all.

It's comforting to think he's simply very single minded. But the feeling he lacks somehting in his character remains.

Still, nicely defended wehn that guy tried to attack Buzz' fist with his face.

My guess is that they landed SOMEBODY on the moon. Some of the footage provided is extremely suspect though.

Given the political situation at the time and the possibility of the world watching live as their astronauts died horribly some smoke and mirrors are understandable.
There are suggestions that the Russians did the same with Gagarin - i.e. he actually never got into the vehicle and stayed safely on earth while the real mission took place, just in case something bad happened.

I think if I'd been one of the first two men to set foot on the moon, and spent 40 years with people saying I'd faked it, I'd lack a sense of humour about it too.

I think you missed the point I was making.

I was not suggesting that they couldn't or didn't land people on the moon.
I was pointing out that some of the images and footage of the Apollo program are perhaps not of the actual events.

The limited recording and broadcasting technology of the time isn't particularly relevant in this respect. There are examples of terribly faked footage that predate Apollo by many years and which the public accepted without batting an eyelid.

Some people, for whatever reason, wishes to undo the few amazing things that humankind have accomplished.
I wholeheartedly wishes those people would just disappear, the world would be a much better off without these tumours.

Questioning is one thing, blindly and without logic disregarding proof is another.

Perhaps.

Though he seems to be completely lacking in any sense of humour at all. Humans generally need some means of release from frustraions other than violence.

If he was a particularly serious man or even an introvert, then his humour would be contained within that, but he's clearly much more extravert, even basking to an extent in attention.

Anyway, acedemic. He's one of the first people to set foot on the moon. His place in history is assured. For that alone, I can forgive him almost anything, especially after that hook he gave that freaked out conspiracy theorist accusing him of being dishonest.

100% Agree on that.

And this little beauty is my thinking behind the moon landings. :)
