Nasty Exploration/Death Issue

So I just learned something nasty about death and exploration data.

Not only do you lose the data you haven't turned in (on top of the insurance bill you receive), but the systems you scanned to obtain that data?

They remain 'explored' for you. You can't go back and scan them again to recover the lost data for sale.

That probably needs fixing.

Could you tell why you're opening one thread, ask a question, get an explanation and then open another thread with information from that previous one?

You're on an expedition and discover an uncharted section of the Amazon river, on the way back you get jump by pirates, you die. Said pirates then sell your finding to the highest bidder, guess what that bidder gets to claim the discovery.

What exactly needs fixing?

So if I crashed into a star... the star recovered my data and sold it on the market? :)
