I discovered something interesting in Elite dangerous that is quite intriguing. I am going to call it natural Game mechanics meaning it may or may not of been intended from the game developers.
When a person buys a game on the internet they like to join forums where they can see the game in action, they look up the game reviewers who give the best information for advantage in the game. Sort of like real life they end up in what is called mainstream, the ebb and flow of the customer base. Similar to the get rich schemes a player is enticed to follow the crowd into certain systems and then wonder why the pirates are there to swallow them up.
The part where this is funny or intriguing is that the natural Game mechanic that gives the people advantage is also high risk of people using the same strategies to intercept people using that advantage. Many people screaming of the injustices and do not realize a couple of systems from them is the exact advantage procedurally generated and unknown and undiscovered by the mainstream game bloggers. With a billion stars this game has potential to be the best MMO I have experienced. I guess if we were to look at it from the suntzu perspective the "high Ground" meaning safe advantage point from your enemy is to go off on your own learn the game without help from the bloggers. The "common ground" meaning points where you run into players would be close to systems mentioned by the Game bloggers and "Deadly ground" would be to subscribe to a gamers blog and follow them blindly and be completely oblivious to the "natural game mechanics"
