General Gameplay Nature Decorations

Your Feature Request / Idea
Natural styled decorations that would enrich dino exhibits, or other areas.

As i am not sure how to suggest this, because there are an umber of ways to do this and different features may require different tools, I'll put this in general gameplay.

Firstly, you can give us one more Landscaping tool section, which would be Rocks. This can have 3 tools, one being small rocks, the second being boulders, and the third one, painting outright cliffs. Alternatively this could be one tool that works sortof like the tree placement, with more and larger rocks appearing the more intensely you paint an area. I do prefer the different tool idea personally tho, as it may be more easy to use and allow more control and creativity.

In addition to this you could have a special section within the Enclosures tab, where you cloud place special things such as maybe waterfalls on cliffs? Thats a bit of a tough one, but fallen trees and other unique things, maybe even down to ruined buildings (ala the old Jurassic Park Infrastructure, fences, centers etc, tho that may be a bit much.)

In my honest opinion I believe we need a more top to bottom improvement in environment creation, in every aspect. I believe we need in addition/conjunction to your ideas:
-More Ground Brushes (Swamp/Marsh, Sand, Rocky, Mountain, Plane, Mud, etc.)
-More Tree Variety (Varied Tropical Rain forest trees, Varied Swamp/Marsh Trees, Varied Desert Trees, Varied Non-Tropical Rain forest trees, etc.)
-More Shrub Variety (Varied Tropical shrubs (Ferns, etc.), Varied Desert Shrubs, Varied Swamp Shrubs, etc.)
-Possibly deeper water levels (although this idea isn't as major as the three things listed above.

I would relish the idea to create all sorts of different and varied environments for the dinosaurs and I wish to have a good discussion with you and others so that we can offer the best ideas for this main idea to the Devs.

Hey Indo. So i agree that variation is really nice, although i can also see this looking quite odd in such a localized, fairly small environment.

For one, I feel like much of this would only really work if we got some substantially bigger maps to work with, especially in the case of your mountain idea.

I can also currently create very swampy looking exhibits by making the whole thing filled with mostly water and placing trees and shrubs gratutiously, so i dont know if that's all that necessary, but it's worth a think i suppose.

Deeper water i would enjoy seeing, especially for Spinosaurids if they were able to swim in it. This may also be a way to tie in with Marine Reptiles as i've metnioned elsewhere.

While i do understand where you're coming on those ideas, I'm personally not convinced we need the entire range of what you suggest, but perhaps some of it.

A sand tool and/or rocky soil for one would be nice.

the other things you mentioned such as trees and shrubs depend on these "biome" specific sets which you suggest and i think they may be a bit of a pain to program, as well as looking, as i mentioned, fairly out of place, potentially, but i can't be sure.

What i do think will be a problem is if the devs decide to add Paleo Flora for dinos to eat from instead of feeders, that might make your suggestion of biome specific flora an even greater problem to deal with. You would need twice the flora variety for much of what you suggest.

I agree with Indo, that we need a substantial number of additions to terrain - and I don’t think it would look odd for greater variability. Even if it does - that’s where player choice comes in. No one has to use the terrain tools, but they can’t use them at all if they aren’t there.

Even if terrain is restricted to what we specifically see in the movies, that would include Redwood trees(!!), dry grassy plains, sand, swampier areas (which is distinct from lakes with plants in I would add) gravel/concreted areas, cliffs, dam walls (T-rex paddock) and waterfalls. That’s a relatively small set, all within the film canon and biomes, and would make a HUGE difference to creativity.

I would point out, we already have several of these on the islands of the 5 deaths, drawing your attention to Muerta. The purple flower bushes are only on Muerta and Pena. Muerta also has sandy beaches, rocks and hard cliffs. I recognise that giving the option for terraforming cliffs isn’t a quick thing, and I recognise that the terraforming right now is all centred around dinosaurs being able to walk on it - but they clearly already have the aesthetic down. And they could make vast improvements, remaining within the current aesthetic and island sizes.

This is definitely something I want. Top ideas already - particularly would love to be able to create more rocky/sandy environments with variety of flora. Would mean you could really split up areas of your parks to have vastly different feels to them more like real zoo/safari park. 5* from me

Terrain Tools/Enclosure Customization

I so agree. When i played this game for the first time that was my PRIMARY complaint..."what? Just One kind of plant?"..."What? Just one type of ground?"..."WUT?! NO ROCKS?!". ... i truly believe this game in its initial rollout was very satisfactory in most other aspects....but i had trouble tollerating the fact that every enclosure basically had to look exactly the same. I feel like that should have been a much stronger and obvious focus in a game where one of the core features is building enclosures. Devs...please tend to this.

this is what we need right now!

I think adding more terrain editing options would be great, in this way we could highlight certain areas that we want, to better fit the park, and give it a personal touch that is so much needed.

As someone with 137 hours in the game so far this is what I want most. I really love this game but I have hit a brick wall after playing the new challenge mode. Looking at my parks they all look pretty much the same since they all have the same foliage and green grass and it is driving me crazy. I have a ton of ideas to make cool enclosures but can not even attempt any of them since there is no way to decorate the enclosures. For sure adding the things that Indo mentioned would be a great start but it would also be cool to have decor that the dinos could interact with like:

- fallen trees and logs: dinos can climb on, dilos hide inside
- rocks: climb on
-nests: could be used as a place for dinos to "sleep" or rest
-various skeletons: would be really cool for carnivore enclosures

An option for single tree placement would be cool too many times i have those ugly empty spaces between buildings and the big circle for the trees dont work there or sometimes i want to put single trees along a river and i constantly have to delete the trees until there is the one tree i want its a real pain

right I think this is an option that we must have!

It would be nice to have things like this, as well as other things that the Dinosaurs can interact with, such as a swinging tyre, large rubber balls and other small destructable equipment to keep the Dinosaurs active and busy. I mean would it be difficult to add an animation to the carnivores, where they pick up a tyre and throw it around their enclosure for a while?

This is Jurassic World, not a petting zoo.

Is it just me or this thread essentially asking for Zoo Tycoon 2: Jurassic World?

Mmmno, this thread, at least my original post is simply asking for a slightly more involved park building, seeing as this is above all else, a park building tycoon. I do not agree with all the crazy biome stuff personally, but that's my personal opinion.
