So for the life of me I just can't seem to get a handle on how this naval rank progression works...
Is there a scenario in which naval ascension missions will not provide an increase in rank? I have heard of others experiencing this recently as well but couldn't really find anything on it when I searched the threads.
My method thus far of gaining both reputation and rank has been to do missions for factions and trade with stations within Empire space. I do many different kinds of missions from the donation missions to the war-zone kill quests always trying to work for the factions that have the most influence with the governing bodies of the Empire in whatever system I am in. I have completed and turned in 3 Ascension "kill General Zod" or whoever missions since becoming a cadet without out any increase in rank.
While I think that the complexities of the political intrigue and such are a nice touch I do feel the rep/rank/factional system is more than a bit convoluted and clunky at least in the way the system weights and balances progression.
If I am in fact missing something about how to rank up in the Navy I would greatly appreciate any guidance or constructive criticism folks have to offer.
Thanks.
