naval mission progression

Re Naval mission progression Federation

I am currently at Post Commander level.

The mission rank level being offered is also at Post Commander so I am unable to accept it.

Should rank offered be relative to currently cmdr rank?

It's unclear what you're asking. You will get a mission to complete, with the word Navy or Naval in it somewhere. They show up now as Follow-On missions, at the top of the list.

Do that mission and you'll rank up.

If you actually HAVE a mission offered, and can't take it, that's something else. What reason does it give?

You might want to contact support if you think it's a bug.

Pretty much this.

If you are ready for a rank up mission you'll be able to accept it when it appears in the mission list. There should never be a case when you are denied a rank-up mission. If you are ineligible for one it just won't appear at all.

It is possible to get more than one rank up mission for a level of rank i.e. just ranked up to Post Captain when completing mission and the going into mission board you may see a mission to rank up to Post Captain—— but you will not be able to accept it as it is in red

What I am asking is should mission rank offered take into account the current naval rank of the commander. (is this what is suppo9sed to happen or should happened) ie is this a bug or a design issue.

Naval mission have only just started appearing again so clearly there were issue before but if no one brings up design issues or bug issues then they don't get sorted.

The mission appear as offered ie you can click them but the accept button is not selectable.

Sounds like it could be a bug. Submit a bug report and FD will look into it.

jonluv's explanation is plausible as well.

Ok, so naval missions do not respect your current rank. They can certainly vary in difficulty, but the needs of the navy don't always match up with your current skill. You may find a mission to be too difficult or very easy, or you may not be able to take the mission at all for one reason or another, such as a lack of cargo capacity, or insufficient reputation with the authority granting the mission. Many times I've been given a rank mission that I could not take.

If you cannot accept a naval mission pay attention to what the mission needs, you may not meet them, and also pay attention to the reputation required; you may not meet it. The last naval mission I did merely wanted me to grab some art that was all legal salvage. Other times I've been asked to smuggle illegal goods, or hunt down ships that aren't wanted in their current system.

when spawning NPC the level they are is relative to the current status of cmdr Ie higher rank mean more challenging npc. The naval missions should also work on a similar system . This is a game . Does the market operate based on some kind of deep supply and demand rule? Or just there to generate trading credits? Unless a point re gameplay gets made then nothing changes.

I had already accepted a mission to hutton before realising how far it was. Then I thought, at least I can get a mug out of it. 40 minutes later, station commodities closed during a lockdown. Went home empty handed.

Its hard to hold hot coffee in your bare hands
