Naval rank progression

Could anyone point me to a thread or explain to me where I can get those illusive little missions that give me the next rank in a navy please?

I have been stuck 100% Serf for far too long and did far to much in order not to recieve the oüüortunity. There must be something im doing wrong.

It's odd but I've never struggled to find them; I just go to the same systems with superpower-allied factions from which I've been getting the reputation missions. It's rarely more than two or three visits past the trigger point before one of them appears. The account I'm playing the most at the moment is only at Warrant Officer and Knight though, so maybe they get harder to find as the rank rises.

It was the beginning of the year when I ranked up with the Empire & the Feds. I can't remember which two systems I picked for the Feds, but I was using Aditi & a nearby system for the Empire.
I was just running data delivery missions between two stations in the two systems, ranking progressed quite rapidly once Allied was reached at the stations & I could easily get a 20 max mission haul per trip. The progression mission came with three or four visits to the station after 100% was reached.

As I said that was 7 month ago, don't know if things have changed since then.

I'm kind of surprised nobody's given the OP the right answer yet.

@Ray Nova: You can get rank-up missions from the minor factions (aligned with the desired major faction, of course) whom you are allied(friendly?) with.

You can spot these missions because they will be labeled "Navy" somewhere in the title.

This is the answer. You will only get naval rank up missions from Empire or Federation factions with which you are at least friendly. Go to a system where you have good standing with lots of the Empire/Fed factions. You can always build rep if you need to. Any excess rep you earn will carry over towards the next level.

A bit misleading - you can see rank up missions even if you are not friendly enough with the faction. Never sure with these threads if they really aren't getting the missions or just don't read well... I usually realise I'm at 100% because I see the rank up missions :)

Allied w/control faction, Fed system, make sure you look through all the available missions.

If you have been at 100% for some time, any mission you do subsequently will count towards the next rank.

Sometimes they will spawn in a destination port. Some of the rank missions are illegal, I've refused those and found subsequent offers.

This delay has been around for quite a while.

Sure, you can *see* the missions, but they will be locked because said faction is not friendly enough with you. :p Easier/less aggravating to just find an allied one.

Docked at Titan City in Sol last night and found a huge selection of Fed rank missions and with 20 bases to choose from I reckon it'd be a great place to rank up.
