Naval ranks - the road ahead?

I'm curious about FD's plans to extend or otherwise add to the available naval ranks and, if there are to be more, how would one achieve them?

What happens when we reach the end of the ranking road in the current navies (Fed & Emp)? Will there be more ranks to follow, e.g., Marquis, Duke, Royal Duke, Prince, etc., or Captain, Commodore, Rear Admiral, Vice Admiral, Admiral, etc.? How will advancement occur, and will it be more interesting and challenging than the current wash-rinse-repeat system? What additional abilities or privileges will be attached to increasing rank? What about the Alliance -- will it start a defence force as well?

I definitely want to see some progression for Alliance supporters. I feel we are being shortchanged at the moment.

I'm also very interested in this, I hope they do introduce more ranks and that there is "proper" military missions to go along with them, and better rewards than being able to buy one ship.

Naval missions feel a bit rushed in my opinion. Delivering 3 tones of grain from point A to point B to achieve a rank increase feels bit cheap. I'm guessing FD rushed ranking out to please the vocal majority.

Hopefully future ranks will be more rewarding.
