Navigating Space

I'm sure this thread has come up several times, but perhaps if the developers see it enough they'll start to take notice.

I've been playing around with Elite Dangerous since release day and I've finally made enough credits to purchase that lovely Fer de Lance I've been eyeing... unfortunately, I can't get across space to purchase it!

Here I am pretending to be 3000 years into the future and my computer can't even plot a course that includes gas stations? What's up with that?

Here's another ... I moved across space to my currently location a few months back (looking for better hunting grounds for us Mercenary types) and settled down in a lovely location with lots and lots of mining going on... ripe with pirates just looking to be taken out. Well here's my point... a few months ago I was able to plot out a route to travel over 100 light years from one location to another, but now! I can't even get back to that original location.... there's not enough info to provide me with the data necessary to get from point A to point B and back again.

Now... I've considered some alternative methods for getting to my destination to get my Fer de Lance... something to do with fuel scooping. I don't mind learning new tricks, but while doing some research I've learned you've got hit stars of type A B F G K M O... that's fine... but where is that information found? Shouldn't this all be in my onboard computer?

Am I missing something folks... or is space navigation in the future more screwed up than plane travel of today?

Just askin,

Dakmin Borick
