[Navigation] Space station orientation in super cruise

Here is small suggestion to ease up approach to stations...

Ok so while I agree it's a pain, here's a tip to make it a lot easier for you.... the stations with these types of entrances ALWAYS have them facing the body they're orbiting so if you want to drop out of SC with the entrance in front of you, all you have to do if you is make sure you approach from inside the orbit line with the planet behind you. However... that does mean you'll spend much more time in SC as you'll be fighting against the gravity of the planetary body so using your screenshot as an example, here's what I do: Approach the station on the same plane as it's orbiting the planetary body but aim slightly high to make sure I'm not going straight at it. Clearly in your example the planetary body is going to be pretty much above (from our persepctive looking at the screen) the station so what I'd do is make sure I approach from a higher angle so I'm still being pulled towards the planet using it's gravity but aiming inside the orbit line. By the time I get to within 1Mn I'll be pretty much level with the station if not a little past meaning I'll be approaching from a 45degree angle but with the entrance straight in front of me. All I do then is boost upwards while travelling towards the entrance. Simples :)

I know about that; but it's not always exactly facing planet... I was just suggesting that to maybe help players who start with game and since that 3d view of station is already there, to make it have some use instead of just showing you what type of station is (it kind of annoys me that it's there, but it's not doing anything :) )...

I like the idea. Hyper Flip, are you sure that *every* station has a parent body? There's got to be a few that don't in the current map.

Sorry Koberko, I wasn't trying to be condescending, I just thought I'd share my way of doing it as it has massively sped up my approaches to stations and I now never end up having to navigate my way around those huge stations. I do however agree that it can't be that difficult to orientate the 3D image of the station in SC seeing as the game already does it once you drop out of SC and yes, it would help people :)

LogicMage, every station *will* be orbiting a body somewhere, yes. It wouldn't be physically possible for it to not be. Whether or not it's orbiting close to a body or massively far away, yes it will most definitely be orbiting *a* body.
