Near Miss

Dropped out of Supercruise in 39 Tauri on my way to Porta Station and instead of being 9+km's from station I decelerated in-between the spokes!! Lucky I had 4 pips to shields as I hit the station as I was trying to bear away.

This happened to anyone else?

Some stations are very, very long, and as you are dropped 8km from entry/exit, then you might drop out very closely to superstructure of rest of the station.

Yup, there've been threads about this issue before. I hope they adjust the jump range on those space stations to make sure there's no danger of a crash no matter which angle you jump in from.

The best way to avoid a crash I think is to circle round and approach from the planet side. The distance is measured from the slot so you are only at risk if you come from the back and it is a really long orbis station.

Yup, disentangling from the spokes and/or fins is definitely an unwelcome surprise. Disengaging planet side seems to be the thing to do...

As it is you're dropped out 8-10km from the targeting box of the station in a direction that matches your approach (most stations face their entrance toward the planet they're orbiting), and in the case of orbis starports this is actually a small distance in front of the letterbox. If you come out directly behind an orbis you can actually land inside the superstructure and be destroyed instantly.

Calculating exit distance based on the boundaries of the station itself would correct the issue.

Just restore exit distance to 12 - 14 km. They should have never given in to complainers. It is way too close now.
