Horizons Nearest stars from left menu to HUD?

Dear developers, why not link the stars in left menu, which available for jumping - straight to HUD, like local system bodies.
That would be very comfortably for extra-jump or for aimlessly flying where your eyes might see. Especially for space drifter like i am ;)
this already happens up until 15 ly or so last I checked?

Not a bad idea! Who knows, maybe FD will add this feature at some point. To me, it would make sense to sell this HUD function as an extra component - perhaps a ship computer update that would take no extra space in your ship.

I think as switchable layer would be perfect.

This would be great: Toggle HUD from "Local" to "Interstellar" mode. There are often times where I can see a target in the far distance (like a nebula or other galactic feature) and not having to open the galaxy map to pick my next destination would be awesome. I usually don't care about which exact system I'm jumping to I simply want to keep moving in the right general direction.

While it would definitely be useful in some situations, it would also have some scaling issues. If you look at the density of potential destinations closer to the core, e.g., around Colonia, you'd rapidly end up with a massive clutter of destinations, and the chance of seeing a system you'd want to target diminishes rapidly.

There has been talk about making bookmarked systems somehow available in the navigation menu (with the caveat that it's currently not possible to plot routes outside the galaxy map for technical reasons), maybe having those visible in the targeting overlay as a much more controlled element could be a more universally applicable thing.

Yep I thought about that too.
Therefore i offered a switchable layer.
When i was near the core i'm even switched off visibility of available routes and also some spectral classes of stars in the galaxy map, because it too much of them and messed up view of map.
But how much of them in the Bubble, around system where you are? Four or may be five, no more...

This is basically something I've asked for in the past. The ability to point to a real star that you can see and plot a course to it.

Unfortunately looks like that developers don't reading this forum, or reading not all or do it very seldom.
Can't wait for their comment, but don't want that this idea drowned like many others are. [sad]
