Nearly 3 years for the thargoids...

Then they are killed in a couple of days, well done frontier, well done!

Last time I checked killing few thargoids most likely won't give you victory in a war, and considering they regular non-aggressive approach towards humans I would say you are not facing anything close resembling military yet.

if this was not the case, they would screw over the Solo players.

just wait and see whats next, before you let the salt flow..

also, OP.. did you kill one yourself?

Frontier is starting to switch events at a pretty high pace all considered, let's just wait for a bit and see how it goes.

I mean, didn't we just discovered another type of thargoid less flowery? I'm the first to point out Elite's problems but for people who actually wanted to see thargoid stuff this patch seems amazing, and a happier community is a better community for all of us.

This is where I feel sorry for Frontier. If the Thargoids had been invincible one shot killing machines, the cry babies would be up in arms demanding rebuy refunds. SDC lost a ship and JUST managed to take one down. I took a heavily engineered ASPx and tried to take down a Thargoid solo. I bailed at 12% hull after getting three hearts down, and believe me by that time, the Thargoid was very angry. If you think they are too easy, head on out and kill one. Yes, one has been destroyed by a solo pilot, but he was in a high end ship and I bet his repair costs were not far off the 2 mil bounty he got for the kill.

So IMHO Frontier got the balance bang on.

Sometimes you have to lose the odd battle to win the war.....
If I was FD and would want to give meaty challenge, I would give such possibility to users first, collect data, analyse it and tweak Thargoid behavior a bit for response. I hope they have tools for that. That would be awesome.

I totally agree with you. Hasted opinions based on lacking or no facts are the pest of the web. Frontier did one hell of a job with 2.4 as far as i have seen it. Everywhere are things to find, see and explore. I havent fought a Thargoid yet and wont do unless being attacked, but i am looking forward to dig deeper this weekend :)

But if people cannot jump to conclusions what is the internet for? :p

Yes, individual Thargoid scout ships are being killed by groups of commanders, or even some commanders soloing them. However, these are the scouts, and all the kills have been either many or one vs. one Thargoid.

When the scouts start spawning in groups/wings of 2-4... or more as they continue to approach, it's going to get a lot tougher. And they may have bigger/more formidable craft for us to deal with.

The war isn't won yet. At best, we now know we have a shot of fighting back.

The Thargoids will get allied with some humans, just as they did in the the old Elite series. You can already now get them to, ahem, like you so that you are "green" with them and they don't attack you.

They never attack me anymore, they just scan me, and I can get as close as i want to them at any time I want.
Even if I take the EscPods They hardly make a move anymore..... But I have also been feeding them with slaves :D

good boy good boy ... little Thargoid :D
