Been spending too long out in the black, so decided to divert myself with a forum post!
This is actually more of a request for info. I seem to remember way back there was a thread about submitting names for various galactic features that are currently un-named, or simply provided with standard catalog numbers. I've run a search but maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing and nothing seems to come up. So this one is to more veteran explorers than I: is there a mechanism for submitting alternate names to features that either exist only as NGC numbers (or equivalents) or which only have procedural names?
What sparked this was that I was flying to and through the Traikeou AA-A H2 nebula. Personally, I thought it was pretty stunning, hanging there in the distance as i approached and then suddenly blossoming. The name doesn't do it justice. In my own ship log I've called it the "Blood Rose Nebula."
But I was thinking that it would be cool to have a mechanism where we come up for names like this and submit them to Frontier. Maybe with a vote on the exploration forums first.
Then, because I had come up with a cool idea, I reasoned that about 100 people at least had probably already thought of this.
So. . .?
