Hardware & Technical need a flight control system with no Z axis on the stick

I currently use a logitech extreme pro joystick to play elite Dangerous but I am finding the using the z axis rotation to control yaw is giving me very painful RSI in my wrist.

Can anyone recommend a flight control system that does not have a twistable stick? That also has enough buttons to sensibly control ED? I am happy with the idea of hotas with or without pedals..

Welcome to the ED forums, mate! :D

Any make of pedals are good, mate. I've been using Saitek Pro Flight for about three years now, I really like them, to the extent that I'm not that fussed on a fancy upgrade. They retail at about £130 here in the UK. https://www.logitechg.com/en-gb/product/flight-sim-rudder-pedals
I hear good things about CH Pro; they're about £140 or thereabouts. https://www.flightstore.co.uk/aviat...ight-sim-controls-c800/ch-rudder-pedals-p2418
The budget option is Thrustmaster's T.Flight; £80 from the manufacturer. http://shop.thrustmaster.com/en_gb/pc/joysticks/t-flight-rudder-pedals.html
Connoisseur options like VKB-Sim T-Rudders or MGF Crosswinds look great, but the price is eye watering! €320, before delivery, for the Crosswind... http://mfg.simundza.com/products

Hth... :)

The t-flight has a z axis rotation :( I need a stick that doesn't rotate so I don't have the option to rotate at all.

wow, you're not kidding! But thanks for the suggestion... I have a birthday coming up, i'll see if I have a rich uncle who feels like being generous ;)

CH Products Fighterstick + Pro Throttle + any pedals. The CH hardware isn't as flashy as the Warthog or the Saitek sticks, but it's incredibly sturdy and sports tons of digital inputs. And a mini stick for 6dof. Makes it perfect for Elite, but for flight sims, you'd probably want some more analogue axis. Not a problem in an arcade space game like Elite, where you can use the digital inputs really well.

Alternative: Mouse + keyboard. The arguably most effective setup to play Elite with fixed weapons on your ship.

No need to get another stick, just get the Thrustmaster TFRP flight pedals (or any set of pedals) and bind them to your rudder axis. I had the same problem as you and these helped quite a bit. The SRV damn near ruined my wrist with that overly twitchy steering.

How much do you *want* to spend?

I’d be suggesting VKB T-rudder pedals, a Warthog Grip, Virpil or VKB base, and a CH Pro throttle.

Tighten your sphincter in preparation for the price...
