Need a game to keep me going.

Hi.

I'm in the need of a 'space' game to keep me occupied until Elite hits, I have X3TC but never played it more than 3-4 hours as I found it rather dull and the sector 'rooms' irritated me somewhat.

is there an Elite like games out there at the moment that'll keep me going for a bit?

(I tried Eve online but oh dear, dreary.. zzZZ)

there's loads of option in this section, but why not try one of the remakes like FFE3D?

It's not a game but Space Engine is a work of wonder.

You get the whole Milky Way procedurally generated, right down to be able to fly over planetary surfaces and watch sun(s)rises etc. You can also zip outside the galaxy and roam through intergalactic space.

It's nuts. Nuts and free ;)

Pioneer is a clone of Frontier. Really nice atmosphere flights, seeing the sun rise and so on. Average looking space craft and atrocious NPC portraits that look like Timmy Mallet when you are docked

My Zeewolf? What ever do you mean? The portraits are totally realistic :D

Sorry got posting it in the wrong area. :(

I've tried to run FFE many times and always struggled to get it working, on a variety of machines too.

Then Oolite is as good a remake of the original BBC Elite as you can find.

Yep i agree, and you could try Pioneer if you want something much more hardcore and based more on the FFE games. Oolite is much easier to get into (and has some cool mods), but is very much based on the original game, just updated/better looking etc.
