General / Off-Topic Need a Good CPU for Cheap

Needing a Good CPU for Cheap. $50 Max. From Amazon. Will not use Ebay.

Needs to be 3Ghz or Better. Needs to work with a p7-1254 HP Motherboard.

Is the AMD A8-3820 APU Radeon HD Graphics, 25ooMhz, 4cores, 4 Logical Possessor
any good? It's what I already have.

Planning on replacing my GT560 for a GTX1050ti, for the same price that the GTX780ti's are going for.

The GTX1050ti is better than the GTX780ti, right?

IF need be, I will replace the power supply from my 300 to a 500.

My Old computer borked at the start of Sept. and I found the Exact same one on Amazon for $300 but had to wait for Oct for the Funds and then found a Newer Version ( better GC and CPU of 2.5 instead of 2.2) that still had WIN7 ( thank God ) for $150 in a Scratch&Dent/Used Section. Also picked up a 4TB External HDD while I was at it, Used/Scratch&Dent for $90 instead of $120-150.

Please send Link to the CPU and/or a GC that is Equal to but Costs Less than a GTX780ti/1050ti

Thank you to anyone that can help.

For the Cpu I recommend a new Cpu (intel, because amd ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎ with your gtx card if you have both of them in your setup.) maybe it is realy painfull because it costs alot for you but here is my suggestion

Cpu : i3-6100 tray (Tray is without the cpu fan because you already have one) $110
Gpu : GTX 1060 3G (I would realy recommend this card. I am planing to buy this card also, I have been researching the diffrence between the 3g version and the 6g version but in some games there is a 6 fps diffrence [haha][squeeeeee] and it costs 10 or 20 dollar more then the 1050ti. The 1060 kills every game in 1080p for now at high) $200
MB : gigabyte-ga-h110m (1151 socket same as the i3-6100 and the i3-6300) $50

(Use newegg if you want to buy something, they have alot of great deals!)

Pm me for more questions

Best regards, Daniel

In terms of performance, a 780Ti will probably outperform the 1050Ti in most games. The 1050Ti is based on a newer architecture, doesn't require as much power (which might be important depending on your PSU) and implements the DirectX 12 feature set as opposed to the DirectX 11 feature set in the 780Ti. This wouldn't make a difference with Planet Coaster as it stands; this may change in future if Frontier implement a DirectX 12 path to reduce overhead.

The other thing to consider is that the 780 Ti has a much larger number of compute cores, which may benefit Planet Coaster. How much so is hard to say unfortunately.

As DanFreudend states above, the 1060 might be a better choice as it should outperform the 780Ti. I don't know what the relative costs are.

As to CPU, the minimum specification is an AMD FX 4300 or an Intel i5-2300. Your motherboard won't support either of these chipsets, and I think the best you can get would be the A8 3870K which would only be a small improvement over the A8-3820, and still below the minimum specification. That's not to say it wouldn't run, but the game is quite CPU intensive. A new motherboard would help there, but I would recommend getting an i5 if you can as the i3s only have two cores, which will effectively halve the amount of work that Planet Coaster can do.

[I'm making the assumption you're upgrading this machine to play PC of course!]

Newegg GTX 780ti $850 OoooHHHH ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎ NO!

Even on Amazon the 780ti's are going for $350 - $1600 New ❤︎❤︎❤︎? Used $250
I Missed the on on CL for $70 because I didn't have the Funds but no telling if it was abused or not either.

Also I meant the GTX 750ti (sorry) as they can be had for $90-120 on average and some still going for $200 up ( a Few REFURBISHED as much as $1000 ❤︎❤︎❤︎?)
I think "Can I Run This" said Minimum is the GTX 750 for PC.

Average Starting of $200 for the GTX 1060 isn't too bad.

I keep watching these Tech/Computer Geeks Build Gaming Coms for $200 that will play any game out there right now with Minimum frame rates of 30fps ( they say that's Barely playable if at all ) but they also go on Ebay or CL and get their stuff on the cheap. around here in my parts, people want a arm and a leg and sometimes your first born for the crap they are selling on CL. If it is Cheap, it's Crap/Borked.

Ebay.... Everytime I ever placed a Bid on Anything, the Price jumps up another $5-20. SO I place another bid of $1 over the current bid, the price jumps up $5-20 again. The "Buy Now's" are More Expensive than if I were to go to the store to get the item by as much as 25%. ( even a few 50% more)

My head hurts. Thanks for the replies, I will keep checking back from time to time.

If you want to upgrade look here: www.logicalincrements.com

i doubt a 50dollar cpu would be good for planet coaster so just look for another upgrade in the link i gave its the best value for money and you can at least play games on it

That link you sent me to..... Why do I just get a Logo and it just keeps loading More Logos under it? Had to turn Java Script ON for the page to even Load. I HATE turning ON Java Script. They Love to track your Surfing Habits and report them back to Big Brother. Time to scan the computer.

hmm? that shouldn't happen. logicalincrements is a very good site, at least it has always been and is widely used to see the best value for money upgrading parts. This is the first time I ever hear something negative about it so im not sure if its because of the site but it might be because of your computer?

it will just list every part with the price and then you can decide how much money you want to spend

here is a screenshot i have just taken of the site

for a good PC that runs planet coaster I would look at the 800dollar range, but i wouldnt cheap out on CPU since planet coaster is cpu intensive so its best to spend a little more for a stronger i5 or i7 instead of just an i3
