Doing it for the first time and my very first attempt didn't go so well. I managed to get in, manually scoop one pod and get out, cool down, assess the damage, and made the very bad decision of giving it a second try. But by the second time I went in, my Cobra couldn't handle the heat and the cargo hatch broke. To add insult to injury, the station FINED me for "jettisoning" the escape pod.
This is not going to work. I made my way back to the rescue ship to rethink my strategy and get some equipment: a couple of heat sinks - do I get fined for dropping heat sinks inside? -, one or two collector limpets, maybe an economy-class cabin.
First problem: the "rescue ship" doesn't have the heat sinks. It does, however, have a collector limpet. Haven't checked if they actually have limpets, tho. EDDB.io gave me the nearest station for the heat sinks, so I'm heading for it as I'm writing this.
Second problem: how do I go about collecting said pods efficiently? And by efficiently I mean not getting my ship fried. Can I sit outside the slot and send the limpets through the gape? Should I waltz in, drop heat sinks like crazy and hope the limpets are fast enough?
Any and all recommendations are greatly appreciated.
