Newcomer / Intro Need advice to find CMDR

Greetings!

To perform a mission I need to find a CMDR in the system, got 1D9H for this.
I already spent hours at the beacon and in the belts, earned a lot of credits, but did not find the reqested CMDR.

So I need an advice on how to proceed to find that guy in the system.

Thanks for hints and tipps,
Wolf

for those missions that say kill CMDR ABC in locationsXYZ its USS you need to jump into , jump into a few USS till you get updated with his actual location system then go there look for more USS in that system and he will be in one, i normally do these in around 15-20mins from start to finnish.

i goto the nearest system in the list of locations stay in SC and reduce speed to min, and just wait for the USS to apear, jump in them as they come up normally takes around 2-3 USS then you get a message telling you they have been seen in X system , go there do the same again(min speed SC) and jump into the USS as they come up he will appear in 1 of them.

CMDR is usually reserved for human players - e.g. CMDR the_naked_ape (me).

These targeted assassination missions will involve a Federal Dropship or Imperial Clipper (for the respective navy rank progression missions) or an Anaconda (pirate lord kill missions).

The Anaconda is now accompanied by a small support ship. The last time I did the mission it was a Sidewinder.

If this is the first assassination mission you've done, you'll probably die. Just so you know :)

If it's one of those 'Kill Gen. Buttcrack' missions, as stated, it will be a USS.
As also stated, be VERY prepared when you find them ......... my small star became a brown giant the first time I tried to kill a Gen. !!

Thanks folks,

finished mission - w/o being killed :D

btw. what's SC (SystemCenter?) and USS (perhaps not what it is in rl)

Well done!

SC = Super Cruise (In Frame Shift space)
USS = Unidentified Signal Source - Prior to 1.2, that was the only thing to look for, now there are also Strong Signal Source (Never go to once of these alone, probably a wing of nastyness), and a Weak Signal Source (which is probably where you found him) - People will continue to say USS when referring to any of these

Not 100% sure of the distinction between USS and WSS yet. Seems that USS are just random encounters, WSS are the ones to go for when doing missions, but may be random when you do not have a mission.

I checked one out last night as I was assessing the differences. There were 7 (!) ships in total, all wanted, in a single wing (!) under an Anacoda. They turned towards me and started accelerating. I've never wished I could boost in reverse as much as I did then.

I stopped in at a WSS, saw many canisters of gold. Thought about the recent mention of a trap when trying to scoop, but I was in a WSS I thought to myself. Dropped cargo scoop and targeted the closest canister. BAM! A wing 7 cobras appear with "I cant believe he fell for that! Get him boys"! So be careful.

Side note, I think FD should reword the message they send. Replace "he" "this commander", I know women play this game and should be a more gender friendly to the players. Besides, I always choose to play as a women if the game offers :)

I like to headlook down and see some bewbs!

Half crown, sixpence, half crown, sixpence

Lol lucky you - I did the same thing - stopped at a signal source - saw all the gold canisters but I was in my Kitted viper- no cargo - all I did was ram one of the gold canisters, and then 6 Vultures pulled out - Ive never been so happy that I already had full pips to engines and was facing away from where they came in in my life lol - Boost, silent running, flight assist off, chaff, heatsink - FSD away
