Horizons Need help choosing a beautiful home system

I'm looking for a pretty system to settle down in. At this point, I've acheived a great deal of what I set out to do in this game, and now I'm playing much more sandbox, so I don't need to keep looking out for the nearest RES or a station with a mission board.


I'm looking for the prettiest stations and surface ports you guys have come across in inhabited space to move my stuff to. I would love something with a beautiful view of an Earthlike, or even just orbiting any other beautiful planet - I was in Lambog yesterday and Bryant Dock orbits a planet that looks pretty cool!
Ever since I traveled to Mitterand Hollow in Epsilon Indi I've been wishing I could find something like that, but with an actual landing platform.
My only requirements aside from being actually beautiful are that it should be able to restock my ship and have a shipyard (just so I can store my ships, I've bought all my stuff).


A central location in the bubble would be nice, but I don't mind looking at the outer reaches. Anything else like RES's, or certain territory are completely optional.



Am posting in Horizons discussion because a surface port or planetary port would be ideal, but still willing to consider stations!

While i never considered the views to be important when i was choosing my base of operations, you might want to check out Wolf 906 and LHS 3505. Those two are where i store most of my ships and is my unofficial HQ. Both stations have a large selection of ships and plentiful selection of modules. And while there really isnt anything special, aside from Earth i guess, both systems are only a few jumps away (1 or 2) from Sol.

You might also want to check Diaguandri (Ray Gateway), it's a popular Li Yong Rui (15% off on modules and ships) system that has every non-rank locked ship and a wide array of modules.

Personally I'd like an ocellus station in LYR space less than 100Ls from arrival, preferably a palm-tree high-tech station - but I don't think there is anything in the game that meets those criteria (I have not found one anyway).

It's why I always carry an SRV with me - if I see somewhere nice en-route, I'll set down on the surface and have a look around! There are so many great things to see, I can't name any specific system. I did find a "home planet" but soon found many other great places! Sometimes it is great to just fly around and look. My favorites are gas giants with rings, and landable planets with interesting topography.

Just in Nekhbet System - some interesting bases and outposts! Different to what I have seen before! Nice red/ice planet (landable) too!

It might not be 100ls from jump, but is 300ls okay?

Bright lit, palm trees, nicely specced Outfitters, LYR discount.

Near to Lembava and Dianguandri for ships and modules not held locally.

I'd wait until they add the new station types in a couple weeks or so. BTW, having a handy RES is a double edged sword. I've gotten locked out out of my home system for 7 days before, which is annoying.

Yeah I think Sovica was one of the first "white" stations I came across but it is Orbis not Ocellus type (I hate the 10km speed zone of Orbis).

I know there isn't an Ocellus High Tech in LYR space (or I have not found one and EDDB doesn't list one) and I have not checked out all of the 7 that EDDB lists for the entire "bubble" to see in any are palm-tree ("white") stations. I have sideymarkers at some of the more interesting "white" stations already, just never one that makes me want to move my base of operations.

As already stated, there are new (spiced-up) layouts in 2.2 / 1.7 so I live in hope.... ;)

P.S. Thinking about this, I might take a tour round EDDB's list of "unknown starports" in LYR space, just to see what is what.

Try HIP 118213 and this - it's a laid back match made in heaven. Pristine metallic, ice rings, excellent outfitting, out of the way so no PP hassles, a very chilled out bunch of cmdrs playing with the BGS, and loads of systems with Guardian influence...

I am looking for one myself. I used https://eddb.io/ and tried to find stations with less than 10 ls distance from the main star. They glow in the color of their star. Apply as much filters as you want to differ more ...

I am going to check some of them out (Alliance space) and look out for landable and ringed planets, double bodies and moons, bases and nice looking stations (tourism). Mineable rings as a bonus ...
I find good outfitting not so necessary since module storage is coming ...

You'll be welcome at Kempston Hardwick, Thea, Frog. Nice Earth-like with a Moon (Merapi). Two stations, an outpost and three sites on Merapi's surface.

A little out of the way but not too far out.
