Are the earth-like world random or is there a trick to finding them?

They are random in the sense that I've heard of them being found orbiting almost all types of stars, but at the same time they do follow "some" rules, such as you're much more likely to find them orbiting F,G and K type stars AFAIK.

It really just takes a lot of looking and scanning before you finally find one.

You are more likely to find them orbiting F, G and K stars but having said that I found my first one (and only one so far) in a system with 2 M class stars. I just got lucky as will you if you keep searching.

They also seem to appear in proximity to other earth likes - something to do with the relative ages and compositions of a star cluster. If you find 1 earth like, stick around in that cluster for a while, you just might find another one!
