Need help fighting the marlinists

Well, that sucks for your home system...
Wait.... these are the same Marlinist refugees from imperial oppression that settled in this area after the great exodus? And you just materialized there out of nowhere a few days ago? I guess they see you as interlopers trying to wrest their new homes from them, and that after all the suffering they've already been through.

Hi. I am the leader of the Marlinists in-game squadron. Let me clarify something here.
Their "home system" is one of the 8 Marlinist Colonies. (see https://elite-dangerous.fandom.com/wiki/Marlinist_Colonies).
This faction showed up 2 days ago.
They decided to put their player faction in a system that was created by a CG FOR the Marlinists and which we have controlled since it was created. The Marlinists are native here and this person has invaded.
Do not aid them in their attempt to invade and conquer a lore important system.

So...what was all that talk about your group "defending" your home system when
a) you don't and never have owned it
and
b) someone else has a prior claim
I appreciate the careful wording of your posts but this last one broke the narrative a bit.

Equip all your ships with enzyme rockets and go T-7 on them.

It sounds like all hell has broken lose, or else this thread wouldn't exist.
Players can support NPC factions too. The distinction between a NPC faction and a PMF faction is an arbitrary one, the only difference is if you fill in a form at the start to pick a name and government type. The players behind the faction are what gives a faction its claim - a dead PMF is no obstacle to anyone, NPC supporter or not.
I'm well aware.
But actually having a pmf or supporting a faction is a kinda different thing. Only the former can stake any claims.
Else, anyone can say this is my system because today i support that faction. Tomorrow i will have another system because i will support another faction.
And so on and so forth
