Hardware & Technical Need help for a UltraWide Monitor

Hey guys,
I've been sadly playing ED on an old VGA screen for a while now and time is to move on.
I've been tempted by an UltraWide monitor after watching Obsidan Ant's videos (great stuff btw Ob's)

Now as I'm tight, I found this monitor for about 150quids but for the life of me I can't understand how this one is so cheap while every other monitor ranges from a minimum of 250/300quids.

I think the most important thing is - what card are you going to be plugging it into?

I'm already playing the game, crappy old TV set, but the computer specs are good… 'ish.

The card is GTX 750Ti
There's 8g of ram and room for more.
The processor is AMD fx 6300

What I don't get is what's the catch with the screen.

1080 vertical is pretty much the drawback. but should be a huge improvement over what you have now. probably not the best quality, buty you get what you pay for. Still, it could turn out to be a reasonable low cost option for game play.

Usually 2560 is accompanied with 1440 in a wide screen.

I'm not sure. IPS, 5ms, DisplayPort - all looks good - but there might be issues with backlighting or a truly awful scaler. Those specs might also be a complete invention, and the actual product capable of far lower specs. Maybe they are full of dead pixels, or "display" models :D I bought some cheap tablets a while back of the "display" model variety - they were literally the dummies you see on shop stands.

What is the manufacturer and model?

Probably they want to sell off the old stock.

Seems like the best answer to me.

As for the 1080p height being the drawback like GJ51 mentioned, now looking into it a bit more, 2560x1080 is what actually makes it ultra wide. So nothing wrong here.
