Newcomer / Intro Need help on upgrading my asp.

Hi everyone, I've bought an asp but I need to upgrade for rare runs. I'm playing on solo not pvp. So could someone point me in the right direction. Many thanks
 
Go for a jump range and max cargo. The rest you can upgrade as you go. :)

I used smaller powerplant, here, but with switched off cargo hatch it's enough. Also to be fight-capable I chose the class 5 shields (C grade for saving you the money) because with rares you don't really need over 100 tons at once. If you want to use her for proper trading, though, You'll have to ditch the weapons and equip C3 shield to make room for another 32T rack.

Swap that grade 5 shield for an A3 - it gives you a healthy boost to your carrying capacity while not compromising too much on coverage.

If you're playing solo, just boost out from interdictions.

Incidentally, if you ever do end up in a shooting fight with a larger ship, those multicannons are going to do 33% less damage than they would against med/small vessels.

Personally, I'd go for Class 2 multicannons, 2 class 1 beam lasers and 2 class 1 multicannons.

Yep, a3 shield and lots of mc, some laser if you really want, but I wouldn't bother. Need to run from cobra and above, and maybe high level viper

Don't you need the lasers to take down shields
I thought that was how it worked - energy weapons for shields and kinetics for hull?
 
Need? Absolutely not. Mc work perfectly well. The stats say lasers are better at Shields, but once the Shields are down, they are not as good. Swings and roundabouts.

When it comes to timing a death with mc only v death with the supposed 'optimum ' I could never tell the difference, with mc getting my thumbs up on pip allocation.

I did notice that big elite ships were hard to get down, but you are already advised by everyone to run from them (and they are not easy when you do have lasers)
 
I'd actually interject and say that even with a class 5 shield you can still outfit the Asp with 94T of cargo.

If you are only looking at rares trading 94T would be plenty as it will take you all day to fill 94T with only rares...
