I've had Elite Dangerous since release on PC and it is my favourite game, I'm constantly telling my friends to get it, but they never do.
I recently got an Xbox One and me and my friend agreed to both get E
on it, which I thought would be perfect; I would finally have someone to play with and I could show him the ropes and generally be a guiding hand for his first experience of the game.
It really didn't go smoothly!
First I had to talk him through the controls over voice chat, which was extremely difficult since for a long time he was complaining about his ship not controlling properly, in the end we found out flight assist was off. ( and he didn't do the training missions which didn't help! )
Then once that was sorted I thought we could go in game and join in a wing. This wouldn't work at first, probably because we were still in the starting system, but moving to another system fixed this and we were "in a wing" in Eravate.
However we just couldn't seem to get in the same instance, I kept locking onto his wing beacon and we couldn't see each other at all. Was I doing something wrong?
I really need to know because I love this game, but he was getting really frustrated and disappointed with it (he literally took about 40 mins just to dock at a station).
So yeah, any advice for how to join a wing and both be in the same game instance?
EDIT: Nevermind, got it working by restarting the game!
