Need help with domestic animal biomes

can someone explain the logic behind biomes of our new domestic breeds?
obviously there is no tropical biome in england or tundra in scotland or desert in france but these choices seem intentional
maybe because these are not wild animals so their biomes in game are parts of the world where they can be kept?
instead of biomes for their range map in zoopedia?

For the highland cattle, the choices are pretty good. Temperate,taiga and tundra are all biomes of some sort in scotland where highland cattle can be found. However the greater range of domestics should be taken into consideration aswell, tundra for example is borderline non existant for where highland cattle are actually kept in scotland but may be referring to the biome in Finland which the zoopedia facts mentions.

Honestly I think they should have had a no biome necessary.
In my zoos, I like to keep foliage native to what ever continent the animals are from.
Surprised alpacas don’t have a taiga biome. I am planning to put alpacas with my llamas in my South American zoo that has taiga foliage in it.

I think they just have tried to give them the most broad choice of biomes so that we can pretend they are other breeds. For example, giving the alpine goat the desert biome is crazy, but then goats are kept in farms in arid areas.

All the new animals have all the continent tags so they accept foliage from all over the world. That's why I think alpacas should get the taiga biome too. For these animals, the more general, the better.

thing is game only recognizes polar tundra as tundra, not alpine tundra
in place of alpine tundra game uses taiga, which highland cattle already has
for example no animal or foliage from the alps have tundra biome
neither do tibetan animals like snow leopard
i think they didn't add this biome to highland cattle for scotland but maybe because it can be kept in scandinavia or something
same thing for the chicken (rainforest) and goat (desert)
they are also probably suitable for those regions as a domestic animal

does it say norway? because it has a lot of tundra even in game map

That's why I think alpacas should get the taiga biome too. For these animals, the more general, the better.

yeah its kind of funny when all domestics get expanded biomes but alpaca doesnt have its no.1 biome
its actual home of origin biome, its main one
i dont think they meant to exclude it, will probably get hotfix

But it’s biome that bums me out

i agree they should have been neutral to all foliage, like maybe have a tag with a barn that says domestic or something
which makes them biome neutral
but still have temperature needs

The ability to pretend that the breeds are others is probably also why barring the cow, all chosen breeds look “generic”.
On that biome logic (which I agree with), pigs should probably have the tropical tag due to their prominence (and separate domestication events) in Southeast Asia.
This is a little sidetracking, but I wish that the terrain requirements for all of the pack’s animals were more flexible (should arguably be nonexistent). The current needs for most are better than for most species in the game (a low bar), but still limiting (for example, chickens hating grass and needing sand, or donkeys hating rocks).

I'm not sure that is the reason. According to that logic the Pig should have had Tropical biome tag too, because the ancestral Wild Boar also originated first in Southeast Asia. I feel like the selection we have for the Breeds are more like how suitable a biome is for domestic keeping of that particular breed.

Either way it is a shame Alpaca does not have Taiga. After seeing Breeds getting as broad a selection as possible it is mind boggling that Alpaca didn't get its most important tag.
