Cdnr1, do you have a fuel scoop, and can you scoop fuel from the star in the system you're stuck in?
If not, then currently in the game, your only option is to self-destruct... BUT if you don't want to have to lose everything, then there is an answer.
When the Powerplay expansion comes in (probably next week), there will be something called Fuel Transfer drones. This will allow other players to transfer fuel to you. So if you wait till next week, and just log into Open Play once you Powerplay comes in - you can try to find someone to help you by coming to you with some fuel... you might get pirates though, so if you know someone you trust who plays, ask them to do it.
I know it's not ideal, and it means you have to stop playing for the time being, but that's the only way you'll be able to keep your ship.
In the meantime, try to learn what you can from this.
1. If you don't have a fuel scoop, always plan your route and look for refuelling stops with stations you can land at (a Type 7 needs a large pad, so cannot land at outposts), well before you run out of fuel.
2. Think about flying with a fuel scoop.
3. Even if you fly with a fuel scoop, still plan your route - you can only refuel at O, B, A, F, G, K and M class stars.
4. Most important - you shouldn't have taken off without your insurance buyback. This is really, really important.
