Need some advice concerning permits and reputation.

Hi all,

Wonder if the community could help me out here, I'm trying to increase my Frederal ranking, but I've also noticed that there are permits to get as well.

Now the problem I've got is that the Sirius permit is a non-federal aligned faction, meaning it'll take a fair bit of work to get allied with them, while nothing is done with my federal ranking while I work on it.

So, what I'm asking is, is the permit 'worth it' either now or in the near future? I've limited play time so it's a important choice for me.
Also - anyone know what the quickest way to grind reputation these days as well!

Thanks!

I've got the Sirius permit. Nothing special or interesting about the system. Easiest way to get it is handing in donation missions I think.

Unless you specifically need to go to the permit system I wouldn't bother with it for now and 17 Draconis for Fed rep. It's a long way out so an Asp would be handy. Try not to grind rep though, it'll put you off the game. Happily I like smuggling missions so gaining a few fed ranks is no bother at 17 D.

Rank grinding is no real problem for me, (I know what you mean though), but I was not sure if I should aim for the permit or not.

Thanks again.

Gaining the Sirius permit used to be easier, back when Sirius Corp controlled several star systems around Sirius itself as well as all the planets along the Sothis Spur, including Robigo. Check the Permits thread for an up-to-date list of systems with stations where Sirius Corp is still in control. That thread also lists all the currently known permits, and what you need to do to get them, and what known benefits can be obtained from the locked system.

Currently, there's not terribly much benefit to gain from the Sirius permit, but FD have said in the past that all the permit-locked systems are permit-locked for a reason; it would not surprise me if (for example) they decide to put a desirable Engineer in the Sirius system.

I just went around all the permit giving stations and sold exploration data after a long haul out there.

Nothing special about these systems though.
