Need some help with OpenTrack

I've been using this as a guide.
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=20474

I've downloaded OpenTrack. Using HT1.0 and Accela settings.
I've downloaded Headsofts vJoy drivers.
I've configured my curves for yaw and pitch.
I'm getting translated values back for movement.
I've set ED's input type to Direct from Accumulate.
I can't get ED to recognise head movements to the headlook axis, either lateral or vertical.
I can't work out why. I hope someone can help.

It's annoying as I've had it working before, I've removed OpenTrack and vJoy, restarted, re downloaded, reinstalled, restarted again. No joy.

Switch on head look mode when in your cockpit, middle mouse button by default.

Make sure elite is picking up your joy inputs in the headlook key bind options, double click it and move the axis.

This is the bit that isn't working. ED isn't recognising the axis when it's changing

Set opentrack to output virtual joystick, that's what elite will pick up.

It is, and I downloaded the correct vJoy drivers, I can't see a way to check the vJoy is picking up the input from OpenTrack though. All I know is OpenTrack is translating, vJoy is selected but ED can't hear anything

You don't need vjoy, opentrack already outputs as a virtual joystick or the trackir protocol.

What is your input device, is it a diy trackir?

Try setting opentrack to output as trackir, elite supports this natively.

Is open track detecting your input? Is its little octopus icon rotating?

My first experience with headtracking was with opentrack. I made it work after a couple of hours messing with configs and that. But, I couldn´t use it in the dark environment I prefer when playing ED, so I gave freetrack a try. I built a 3 point clip first and then a 3 point cap, which is more convenient for me. Had a lot of fun doing it and it works great, with 6 degrees of freedom (you can zoom forward too)

They explain really well everything about it

hey, I´ve remembered something about two different vjoy drivers existing, and only one of them worked with opentrack. Let me do a search to see if i can find the link

found it. This is the place where you can download the vjoy proper driver

http://headsoft.com.au/index.php?category=vjoy

and this is the thread where I found the info

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=20474

be patient with this things, they take time to get them working. But it´s really rewarding, if you ask me

You should only have one vjoy device listed in control panel. Try removing one.

Also try bypassing vjoy altogether and output as trackir, and see if elite 'just works', you don't need to define axes in elite for trackir. This is what I would do, the reason people used vjoy is because there used to be a quirk with trackir support in elite that is now fixed.

Also block out light from behind you, get your face lit from the front as much as possible.

If all else fails, get an edtracker from edtracker.org

I'm interested in the two entries and removing one, I just don't know how to remove either one, no option exists.
When I've uninstalled and reinstalled it seems to install two by default.

Thanks for the info Trueno but I'm already running Headsofts 1.2 release.

If I can't find how to remove one of the VJoys I'll try seeing if I can output in trackir

Ok, Cant remove either of the VJoysticks from Game Controller screen (joy.cpl). Only one VJoy device shows in Device Manager.
My Game Protocol options in OpenTrack are;
FlightGear
FreeTrack 2.0
FS2002/FS2004
UDP
VJoy
Mouse Look

Basically that means I dont know how to output in TrackIR

Set it to Freetrack 2.0, then click settings, and select 'trackir, hide freetrack'

I assume opentrack is tracking your face OK and swivelling the octopus icon in the top left?

Spot on! Working fine (well fine for low light)

The rest is tweaking and daylight. Rep for you sir and if anyone else is feeling generous rep him again for me :)

EDIT: Love the speccy avatar too.
