Need some Help!

What's the fastest way from Kremainn to Nang Ta-Khian system? is there a direct route i can take? when i try to plot a route i believe it is too far away (77 LY) because it says no route available. Any help is appreciated, im rather new to the game :p

If you're new, you likely need to increase your jump range. It could be further than your ship allows. If you're hauling cargo, consider selling it. If you have credits to spare, upgrade some ship components. Check the sticky for guides on how to upgrade the ships for better exploration. :)

wow, you just made me feel this big | | lol the answer was kind of common sense. Should i buy an ASP? can it plot a route from kremainn to Nang Ta?

Also , is there anywhere closer that i can buy 1 medium hard point beam laser and 1 small hard point beam laser? (preferably Gimballed cause i cant aim for squat) I would eventually like to make it to nang ta simply for exploration purposes also Hay Point station has a great outfitting and shipyard availability

this had me puzzled for a good while when i started playing.

there are routes, but it seems all of them involve at least one jump that exceeds your max jump range.

things you can try:
- get another ship with greater jump range
- get a better Frame Shift Drive!
- remove mass: drop some cargo, remove heavy modules or exchange them for lighter versions
- consume fuel? not sure about this, you could try

you can use a tool like http://coriolis.io to predict your jump and total range with different outfits/cargo.

keep in mind that once you get a route, you still need fuel enough to reach your destination, or else refuel en route, either by docking or by using a fuel scoop.
good luck!

So with the right upgrades, can an ASP make it from Kremainn to Nang Ta-Khian?

Is the asp the cheapest ship (6 million cr) that can make it there?

uhhh. Kremainn is 77 Light Years from Nang Ta- Khian, and that link says the hauler makes it 30+ ly in 1 jump w/ full tank. So does that mean i could plot a route and make it in 2 jumps? my viper can only make it 12 LY with a full tank.(hence the reason i couldnt plot a route to Nang Ta with it because one of the jumps to nang is probably higher than 12 LY) (obviously it wasnt made for travel, i know this) i'm too new to the game to know enough to use coriolis because its like reading chinese for me hahah. maybe after i get further into exploration i will have more sense when it comes to this stuff. but as is i bought the game monday and i've literally ONLY DONE bounty hunting. Started in a sidewinder, jumped straight into a viper and started kitting it out. Any more advice is appreciated!

The Coriolis page indicates that you will get 5 jumps out of the Hauler (and I specced a fuel scoop just in case). You could also fit an auxiliary fuel tank, if you want.

You were talking about an Asp earlier - c.6M Cr. base price. The Hauler is only 300,000 Cr..

i dont know if you noticed. but clearly i know little to nothing about this game hahaha :p . But ya good deal. Think im gonna go with the hauler for now to dip my toe into exploring out to nang ta khian, and then when i wanna drop down to my knees in the exploration waters ill go with an asp or something. Thank you for the help brotha!

Also the reason i want to go to Nang Ta Khian was to buy a medium Beam Laser and a Small Beam Laser (the hauler doesnt have any medium hardpoints on it, so theres literally no point for me to take it there unless i have enough money to buy another ship that can make it back to Kremainn when i get there that can hold those guns)

ended up going with the adder with a low weight build. it has enough range to make it to nang ta and it has medium and small hardpoints for the guns i want.

why does an adder only go 17 (with the same specs) in one jump -- and a hauler does 30+ in one jump?

Jump range depends on ship mass and how big an FSD it can mount. The Adder can mount a class 3 FSD, while the Hauler only class 2 - but the Adder is more than twice the mass, so the Hauler can jump further.

This is why explorers make their ships as light as possible. A common exploration loadout logic is to remove weapons and everything not needed, sometimes even shields, put in the best FSD the ship can mount, and the lowest class A grade powerplant still sufficient to run all systems (need A grade because it has the best thermal efficiency). Add to that the best scoop you can mount / afford and the appropriate scanners, optionally add heat sinks and/or the auto field maintenance unit, and you got yourself an exploration ship. Of course, not all ships are built with this in mind, so you won't be able to get a great jump range with all ships. As for cheaper ships that make good explorers, the Hauler and the Cobra are great choices and can achieve quite good jump ranges.

The adder made it to nang ta with ease. i fuel scooped every sun on the way there and back just to be safe. I REALLY appreciate all the help, woulda never made it here without u guys. woulda been saving for an ASP thinking you need 1500 unladen full range jumps or something hahahha
