Running out of gas...... buy more fuel at a station or scoop it from most stars.
Making money....... the game throws money at you. It's not that difficult really.
Also, YouTube is your best friend.
There's also Twitch Streamers broadcasting at any time day or night. Many of them, and their viewers, can be very helpful. Sometimes they are doing the very things you are interested in..
