Hey its me again with a noob question. Im new and lookng to find some new gear. Im looking to upgrade my ship scanning capablity for some bounty hunting. Im close to Dayton gateway which is pretty much where it started me with 45,000 creds. I cant find where the scanner would go on my Eagle and I cant find one in the station. What station close to me has scanners like this I can purchase? Someone sent me to a sight that tells you market values and such but I cant figure out how in the world to work it to make it worth the time it will take to figure it out. No matter what I put in on the site it wont give me loactions from where Im currently at to the nearest with the equipment I need. Any help would be apprecitaed more than you know. I want some bounties but I cant figure out how without the scanner like in the tutorial showed me

You're looking for a Kill Warrant Scanner (KWS)?
No problem!
Go here, www.Eddb.io.
Select System
Type "kill" in to the module section, and select the class you need.
Then scroll down to the Reference System, and type your system name, then update.
Assuming you're near Eravate (near the starting systems), there's actually some KWSs for sale at Ackerman Market, in the Eravate system.
With all that said, you don't actually need a KWS to go bounty hunting, just scan ships and look for a Wanted status. Then pew pew.
If you're online now, and on the PC version, I'll gladly fly to wherever you are, and assist you in bounty hunting.
(I'm actually bored in game, so I'm looking for something to do!)

You don't need to upgrade your scanner to get bounties. Your ship comes with a scanner already so just target pirates, point at them till the scan completes, and if they're wanted, kill them.

The different ratings affect how close you have to be to be able to use the device.

If you have the time, get to the CG nearest you - Arellus is closest to completion. Sign up for it, fit a class D scanner in "Core Internals" and go to a Resource Site, make sure you wait for the "wanted" sticker to appear on a ship then attack and don't die. Make sure you get hits after the shield is down, and that there is some sort of support from local pols.
If you want more money, the Kill Warrant Scanner is placed in your utility slot. You can buy one in Cleve Hub in Eravate for 40000. But you should make enough money on a couple of runs into the Resource Extraction site to afford this, and to afford a viper.

To explain the KWS (Kill Warrant Scanner) further ... when you target another ship your standard issue on-board sensors will scan the ship and tell you whether or not it's WANTED in the current system (unless it's an anarchy system where everyone is LAWLESS). If it's WANTED you can kill the ship and claim its bounties in this system (or any other system run by the same faction). However, if you also scan the ship with a KWS then you'll discover if it has bounties in other systems as well (even LAWLESS ships in Anarchy systems may have bounties in other systems). Having done this and killed the ship you'll be able to claim not just the local bounties but those in other system too.

Thanks everyone. That site mentioned really helped. Its easier to understand and I knew I had a sensor but also knew that the KWS upped to bounties amount. LOL. Mo money mo money. Im about to log in and head to Eravate for the sensor. If anyone is playing look me up sometime.
